The prime study of Psychology has certainly shaped my outlook on behaviours as it is a fundamental component which surrounds me daily. Within the few months of studying Psychology, I had already acknowledged my future career aspirations in this field. Notably, the job role of a Youth Worker and Criminal Psychologist have appealed to me on a huge scale.
Continuously reading upon Psychology, I have found myself intrigued with both biological and non-biological explanations to an individual’s inner functioning, particularly Psychopathology and how those deemed abnormal are able to elevate their well-being to a new level. Psychology has allowed me to learn about the famous the nature vs nurture debate, taking both genetics and environmental factors into consideration. Endlessly, I have been encouraged by exploring theories and psychologists ranging from Freud to Milgram, developing my analytical skills. Just recently, I was able to carry out a group experiment on the correlation between anxiety and depression, with my own hypothesis, which allowed me to research both aspects in great detail. This allowed me to develop my understanding outside the classroom, as the subject profoundly ranges from theory to the practical element. Too, I have improved significantly since the start of my course up until now and believe that a challenge is motivating and would make me work to my full potential. What interests me is the idea that other perspectives will influence my thinking, as I do not necessarily have fixed beliefs, but I am keen to absorb many, which will allow me to have a greater understanding as to why people have differing opinions on certain ideas.English has allowed me to further study novels associated with the criminal side to Psychology whilst recognising how misconduct operates in real life situations. Similarly, it has allowed me to advance my essay writing whilst being meticulous with deadlines.
