The prime study of Psychology has certainly shaped my outlook on behaviours as it is a fundamental component which surrounds me daily. Within the few months of studying Psychology, I had already acknowledged my future career aspirations in this field. Notably, the job role of a Youth Worker and Criminal Psychologist have appealed to me on a huge scale.
Continuously reading upon Psychology, I have found myself intrigued with both biological and non-biological explanations to an individual’s inner functioning, particularly Psychopathology and how those deemed abnormal are able to elevate their well-being to a new level. Psychology has allowed me to learn about the famous the nature vs nurture debate, taking both genetics and environmental factors into consideration. Endlessly, I have been encouraged by exploring theories and psychologists ranging from Freud to Milgram, developing my analytical skills. Just recently, I was able to carry out a group experiment on the correlation between anxiety and depression, with my own hypothesis, which allowed me to research both aspects in great detail. This allowed me to develop my understanding outside the classroom, as the subject profoundly ranges from theory to the practical element. Too, I have improved significantly since the start of my course up until now and believe that a challenge is motivating and would make me work to my full potential. What interests me is the idea that other perspectives will influence my thinking, as I do not necessarily have fixed beliefs, but I am keen to absorb many, which will allow me to have a greater understanding as to why people have differing opinions on certain ideas.English has allowed me to further study novels associated with the criminal side to Psychology whilst recognising how misconduct operates in real life situations. Similarly, it has allowed me to advance my essay writing whilst being meticulous with deadlines. Psychology comprises of two words originally used by the ‘Greeks’, ‘psyche’, defining the mind, soul or spirit and lastly ‘logos’ being study. Both words define together the ‘study of the mind’. Psychology perspectives evaluate the normal and abnormal behaviour and how persons’ deal with different concepts of issues and problems. Psychology theories’ are based on ‘common sense’, but its scientific structure, everything needs to be evaluated and tested, therefore, promoting different psychological theories’.
The practice of researching human behavior, which dates back to most ancient civilizations, has become better understood and more effective over time. This research led to modern psychology and has become increasingly broad since the first notion that one person could observe and measure the reasoning behind another person’s actions. Researchers in the field can study psychology as a whole or one of the various sub-disciplines that psychology breaks down into. These sub-disciplines range from the psychology of learning to fringe theoretical psychology. The men and women who conduct studies in the psychological field, referred to as psychologists, continue research in their sub-disciplines to add to the knowledge of the community. Psychologists focus on the study of the mind while clinicians treat individuals that suffer from psychological disorders. Now that I have covered psychology’s growth, I will move on to the ways that psychology currently impacts the world.

I began to get fascinated by our capitalist world’s economy at a very early age of my life. Growing up, I was incredibly curious to unravel how systems function, and this curiosity developed into a burning desire to learn how processes and organizations operate and run our world. As I started my first job, I realized how much I needed to be better acquainted with the science of money making and the scientific approaches to money management. Later on in my life, being within a company system, I wanted to see the big picture by learning where such a company stands in the midst of all other business interactions locally and internationally. Being involved in the company’s practices I started analyzing the methods used by my managers, the causes and consequences of their managerial choices.
The development of personality has long been an area of extreme interest to psychologists and psychoanalysts alike and many different theories of personality have developed over the years. From Sigmund Freud to B.F. Skinner, everyone seems to have not only an opinion of what personality is and how it develops but also an idea as to what is the best way to measure and report their findings. Personality takes many shapes and forms and is affected by many factors.
