Abstract

Schizophrenia is a very had psychological disorder to deal with. Having this disorder affects you throughout your whole life. This illness affects your brain and your senses, also it affects the relationships with your peers. In order to try to lead a normal life, you will have to get treatment.

Having someone in the family with schizophrenia makes it more prone to developing this disease. Scientists have known for a long time that schizophrenia runs in families. This illness occurs in ten percent of people who have a parent, sister or brother with schizophrenia. Also having a second degree relative such as an aunt, uncle, grandparent or cousin. People who have an identical twin with schizophrenia have the highest risk of developing this illness with a forty to sixty five percent chance. On the other hand in the general population, the chance of having this illness is only one percent (Schizophrenia). Scientists are doing more research on this brain disorder because the exact cause of schizophrenia is not known. The most common warning signs of schizophrenia include social withdrawals, depression, oversleeping or insomnia, odd or irrational statements, unable to concentrate, extreme reaction to criticism, and a strange way of speaking (Smith and Seagal 2015). symptoms, and cognitive symptoms. Many of this symptoms affecting sensory input. Sensory input plays a big part in how a person with schizophrenia is affected. Mainly because a person with this disorder has an altered perception of reality and doesn’t view things the way they truly are and sensory input is the way you perceive things. The way they comprehend what they see, hear, smell and think are disturbed because their mind can’t control this basic functions. These senses are all impacted by this brain disorder.
