Psalm 130 is an unnamed psalm in the Hebrew psalter composed by a penitential Israelite. The church has made great use of the psalms. It was written by and anonymous author but is suggested that it could be Hezekiah. It was written during the time of Moses (approximately, 1440 B.C.) and the Babylonian captivity (586 B.C.). The authors of the Psalms are accredited to David who wrote 73 psalms; Asaph who wrote 12, the sons of Korah who wrote 9; Solomon who wrote 2, Heman (with the sons of Korah), Ethan, and Moses each wrote one; and 51 psalms are anonymous. The New Testament ascribes two of the anonymous Psalms (2and 95) to David. The purpose of Psalms 130 is to provide poetry for the expression of praise, worship, and confession to God. I can only imagine him beginning to make plans how he was going to serve God more than he did before and how was he going to do this by attending Church school and to be an active participant, board meetings to help the church grow in harmony, become a witness on behalf of God, participate in church functions and programs, join some of the church organization, volunteer in various capacities in the church and the community and the list could go on and on especially after being taken off of his bed of affliction an given a second chance at life all over again. What an awesome God we serve. As, we absorb Hezekiah’s ordeal and how he had to transform his life. This occurrence was just not for Hezekiah it was for the Hezekiah’s of Israel as well. The Israelites needed to return to God and put away their idol things and ways from other countries and begin to rededicate themselves back to their God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, and Joseph. The God that has created all of us only wants us to serve him. He is a jealous God. And why shouldn’t he be jealous, He is the creator of all the luxuries we have that we take for granted. Satan has not supplied anything that is significance for us but destruction, heartaches, agony, pain, and failures. Let’s take in account Jonah’s experience inside of the belly of the whale. Just imagine how deep the belly of the whale is. And on top of that the depth for which the whale swam. And God still heard Jonah’s cries within the belly of the whale. If any of you are in need of a blessing then your depth in sorrow or anything else cannot be any extreme then Jonah. God loves us regardless of the depth of our situation. He is listening to hear us at all times. And like Jonah’s encounter, the Israelite’s, Hezekiah, and the general populations, we all have strayed but it is now time to come
