Not all of the peer tutoring will work out well together. Pairs may need to be changed, it is not necessary that each person is similar. Students can benefit socially from a partner who has a different gender, ethnicity, age, and so forth. Furthermore, not every method will work for every student in every situation. Peer tutoring works better and is more effective when students of different ability levels work together. In addition, it is perceived with eyes as a beneficial way for students to learn from each other in the classroom or lab setting. While one student may excel or do superior in reading, another student may be excellent or do exceptionally well in English, these two students working together can help and assist each other to understand and comprehend difficult concepts, ideas, or theory, while expanding their own knowledge of the subject. It is a great idea for the students. In addition, it was proven that no instructor was present nor did the instructor facilitate in any of the peer tutoring sessions, not even in the lab. Furthermore, peer tutoring is suitable for all students unless the student has procedural issues that will make it too difficult to apply or relate to this type of studying. Furthermore, the collaborative learning aspect of the strategy has encouraged and aided positive social interaction between students in a classroom by including traditional instructional strategies along with peer tutoring strategies. Peer tutors are put in leadership positions that oftentimes prepares them for life after their educational experience. Lipsky cited Arthur Chickering’s seven vectors of development (pg. 4). Each vector highlights areas of effective social, intellectual or personal development (pg. 4-5). The majority of students prefer studying with group of people. Thanks to the Internet it allows students to work together collaborating with ideas and knowledge at the same time. For example, last quarter in my world politics class, I send out an email with two links that helped the whole class study for the midterm. I send out a Google doc’s link that helped the class organize their notes and a Skype link to answer any questions face to face video chat over the sections that they needed help understanding. The amazing part about Google docs is that multiple classmates would edit the document at the same time. Many students found this studying method useful not because they gain better grades, but they got to meet new students on campus and allowing them to be social connected through social media. Increased or early exposure to courses that a student may not take normally at a specific level is an excellent tool for learning when they are paired with an upper level student. There are excellent benefits to all the participating parties being that the upper level students gain extra knowledge and expertise in the subject which they are assisting their lower level partners with by immediately applying the knowledge they just learned in class. The same is to be said in a primary school where students spend most of the day together if they are in a split classroom. Students in the class will be able to assist others in their strong subjects and be helped in their weak subjects. By giving the students the ability to teach and be exposed to advanced material, the education system could be made stronger for the future.

In the recent times, home schooling has been the most sought mode of learning by the American parents. In fact, it estimated that over 1 million children in America are now undergoing home schooling (Cooper, 2005). Although this form of learning is legally acceptable, parents are entrusted with teaching and coaching their children in all subjects. In addition, parents can also hire private tutors for their children as part of home schooling. This form of learning is aimed at ensuring that parents commit themselves in ensuring their children are able to learn like other kids in public schools.

Together with the teacher and classmates, students are given the opportunity to speculate and question the world around them and the world awaiting them. Within small peer groups, for instance, students are encouraged to discuss, share, and compromise. The teacher is there to encourage this process, rather than to provide prescribed solutions.
