Pros And Cons Of Joining Confederation

Today I am here to discuss the perks and the good of British Columbia joining Confederation. Joining Confederation means that British Columbia will receive things that the province is in desperate need of, such as a rail link to the East, and help with debt and government. If British Columbia were to choose differently from Confederation, economic isolation, no support from Great Britain or becoming enemies with Great Britan, and American invasion would be the case. British Columbia is falling apart, and so are the people and the economy. Who will help us as we continue to fall? As you all may already know, British Columbia is suffering financial losses because of the money spent on the Cariboo Road for the Cariboo Gold Rush (1858 to 1863). Now the province has over a million dollars in debt, and as we continue to live in depression, the money problems are remaining the same, and more and more people are leaving elsewhere. If British Columbia joins Confederation, Canada as a whole will take care of the province's debt and fund annually. By joining Confederation, we can get that responsible government AND also be able to send six members to Parliament. Finally, with a responsible government, our suggestions, needs, and requests will be heard. The six members that resemble British Columbia will be sent to the Parliment to regard the community's concerns for Canada and our province, giving us a better chance at what we need, including roads, hospitals, and schools. Take Confederation as an opportunity to change British Columbia. I hope my speech has made you think positively towards Confederation. Remember that what you choose is an important choice. Think about the impact(s) Confederation will make to you, your family, the province, and the country - is this what we need and want? And most importantly, will this benefit our lives in the future?
