The F-35 advancements make it a true multirole fifth generation aircraft; however, with new innovative technologies, there will be challenges in the advancement. Research has revealed deficiencies verses rewards that the F-35 has to offer to the military and that Lockheed Martin is still trying to work out bugs that the program is experiencing. In addition, further testing and extensive budgeting is required for the success in order to deliver a final safe product to all three military branches. Enclosed is a real life experience from a member of the telegraph and his encounters with the fight simulator program. The F-35 is one of the most advanced fifth generation fighters ever produced. The major contribution the F-35 brings …show more content…

Everything needed for successful completion of the mission is on the helmet's visor such as airspeed, heading warning, targeting information, altitude and ground proximity warnings. This makes the workload a lot easier and helps the pilot to make split second decisions in the aircraft. The helmet gets real time information from the six cameras mounted on the aircraft's airframe. The system feeds real time data to the pilot’s helmet, allowing you to look through the airframe of the plane. In addition, the helmet gives night vision to the pilot from cameras mounted to the aircraft. Unprecedented Situational Awareness. …show more content…

Another problem with the program, being over 20 years in the works, is that the aperture system for the infrared sensors are a hard-wired design that was installed into the aircraft, yet 10 years behind those being use by the F-16. Since the system is hard-wired, the upgrading of the systems is difficult, timely and expensive. The aging computer and decision to put 20 million lines of immature code as the new base has resulted in severe ongoing problems with the aircraft's avionics. Problems will not corrected until 2021. Due to the extreme cost of one flight hour estimated to cost 62,000 dollars for you as a pilot is very hard to maintain your efficiency in the aircraft. Fredenburg (n.d.). The research reveals some deficiencies in the F-35 program, will not be eliminated right away however does not hinder the absolute potential the F-35 offers. Although the overall program is behind schedule, providing the American people an aircraft that serves as a national asset is critical. The overall potential of the F-35 and the air superiority that it provides is required to keep our nation safe for the near
