The thought of sitting around all day, not being productive and watching television sounds pleasurable; however, it is not even remotely healthy. Modern day Americans have become accustomed to being unproductive and watching TV for long periods of time while simultaneously eating junk food. Whether it be talking on the phone with mother or consuming a greasy pizza on the sofa, sitting down and not enduring any physical activity can lead to obesity. Also, American elementary schools have been serving children unhealthy meals and they are consuming more fat than they are fruits or vegetables. Americans need to change school’s menus, reduce the price of gym memberships, and discard the use of false advertisements. First off, many schools in America …show more content…

Gym memberships should be nearly free, if not, open to anybody willing to join. There is the fact that all gym locations will be losing money, but people will be more apt to join a gym program to begin their journey of losing weight knowing they will not be losing money. However, if the gym prices remain the same prices as they are today, then people will be discouraged to begin exercising because if they do not have the income to support themselves and a gym membership, then they will continue to gain weight. As Trachtenberg states, “A gym encourages you to do a balanced program that includes both aerobic and strength training exercises” (par. 4). Trachtenberg explains how it is beneficial to join a gym and start exercising on a daily basis; however, some people may believe that running outside or doing home workouts are cheaper and more efficient. By making gym memberships cheaper for people to join, more people will want to come and exercise at the gym then staying home and not doing anything at all. Creating this opportunity will help decrease the amount of people experience the effects of obesity. In addition to a cheaper price, there could be personal trainers there to keep people honest to their training plan and keep them wanting to come and lose more
