Propaganda is a form of information especially of a biased or misleading nature. It is used to promote or publicize a specific cause or point of view. For instance during The Vietnam War propaganda was huge in many places. It was used to stop the US from staying in the war. It was a major reason why the US lost the war on a political view. When someone stumbles upon propaganda I believe that they should really look at it and try to understand were the creator is trying to say. It is important to understand what you are looking at before you judge because it may be important information and helpful. After you fully understand what the creator is getting at then you decide whether you agree or disagree. Art is not like reading an article instead it shows the viewer through a different point of view. The artwork draws people in they want to know the meaning of it and it demonstrates what the painter or creator is trying to state. One excellent example of art being used as propaganda is a painting called “Guernica” painted by Pablo Picasso in 1937. In the cubism painting it shows town folk and animals fleeing from their home town with terrified faces. Because Nazi planes are bombing them this is during the Spanish Civil War. It is used as propaganda to show the horrific bombing of the town during this time. It is used today as an anti-war symbol. It works to persuade people and make them realize what war really is and what its effects can do to innocent
