So you decided to make a website huh? good, because your in the right place. I'm going to explain the different steps in the website design and development process. What is a development process? Luke Reimer from Smashing magazine answers “A Web development process is a documented outline of the steps needed to be taken from start to finish in order to complete a typical Web design project”. There are numerous steps in the web site design process. From gathering information, to the design of your web site, and finally to create your web site and publish it. So you may be thinking about designing a website, then when you think about how your going to accomplish that, it may seem like a daunting challenge to you. Nothing to worry about, If you follow the few basic steps explained, your web design process will run smoothly.

First step to start designing a successful website is to take some time to do some brainstorming and research. In my opinion this is the most important step in the process because the questions you answer will help you understand your business and your needs for the web site. There are many things you should take consideration of to design the look and feel of your website. Certain question your should answer are, what is the purpose of the site? Is it to promote service, provide info, or sell products? Also what are my goals for the site? What am i aiming to accomplish? I find that the most common goals are either to make money or provide information. One of the important answer you must answer is, Who is my target audience? Your target audience Is a certain group of people that will help you reach your goals. It`s helpful to picture the “ideal” person you want to visit your web site. Consider their age, ...

If you’re not sure how your design looks, Ask a non-technical friend to review your design. If it makes sense to them, it will make sense to most other people. Since everyone has a different workflow the exact process will differ slightly from designer to designer. However, the basics will still remain the same.
