Have you ever wished you could be a professional tennis player? Now you can. With a fast and powerful serve you can easily become a great player. Wouldn’t you love to serve the ball so hard that no one can hit it? With a few steps you will be able too achieve an ace. An ace is a term in tennis that is saying the opponent was not able to touch the ball when it was served over the net and then the person serving the ball receives an easy point. I started playing tennis my freshmen year of high school. My mother plays tennis a lot and encouraged me to play it as well. She believes it is a lifetime sport and I will be able to play tennis even when I get older. I started taking lessons my freshmen year and then sophomore year I joined the tennis team at my high school. I still took lessons throughout my high school when it was off-season. I found that I really enjoyed playing the sport tennis and made a lot of friends while playing the sport. In high school, our team was very good and we made it to states my senior year. Sadly, we did not win states but I am so thankful that I can say I was apart of a team that …show more content…
It is significant to practice your toss to make sure it is perfect. The toss should be high, but not so high that it is impossible to hit. To figure out what is the best height for the toss, raise your racquet up in the air. Wherever the top of the racquet is, that should be how high your toss should be. Each persons toss should be different because no one is the exact same and everyone is different heights and some peoples arms are longer than others. When you toss the ball in the air, you should always keep that arm up for guidance. That will help you have a better idea of how high the ball was
Years of playing the game and not improving, Gawande incidentally finds himself play tennis with a young man who is a tennis couch. The young man gives Gawande a tip about keeping his feet under his body when hitting the ball. At first he is uncertain, stating, “My serve had always been the best part of my game….. With a few minutes of tinkering, he’d added at least ten miles an hour to my serve. I was serving harder than I ever had in my life” (Gawande, 2011, p.3).
Because of home life traumas, Althea frequently skipped school. The times that she did go, she struggled though the day. While she was growing up, she also ran away from home numerous times. As any young child would do, Althea searched for an outlet from the everyday hardships of school and home life. This is where she discovered tennis.
A champion was born unknowingly on September 2, 1952. A child was born to rise above his comrades. He was born James Scott Connors after his father. From the time he was barely three years old, no one could tell that little Jimmy was going to be a champion. Destined for glory his mother and grandmother knew that for Jimmy to be great he would have to work extremely hard. So everyday until Jimmy was a teenager his mother and grandmother would drill him with tennis balls, seeing early that he had tremendous talent. Small for his age, Jimmy had to make up for it somehow. So while other children his age played with toys or watched T.V., Jimmy would be out on the tennis court working on his game. Jimmy wanted to be the best. He knew that his success depended on his speed and his technique.
I first joined my high school’s tennis team when I was a freshman. Although I had little knowledge of the sport due to the district’s lack of a tennis program at the junior high I attended, I still wanted to experience something new. However once tryouts came around, I was one of the unfortunate ones to be cut for no logical reason. The news devastated me and made me feel that I wasn’t good enough to do anything. On the other hand, my friends made the team and encouraged me to try again the following year because they knew I could improve and be great. I took their advice and practiced from days on end the rest of my freshman year to improve and tryout for the team my sophomore year. Through the hard work and determination, I found myself on the team my sophomore year and joining varsity my junior and senior years, which made me feel a lot better about myself.
The tennis seen as typical tennis today wasn’t truly how tennis began. The variation that everyone knows is known as lawn tennis, while the original variation is known as “jue de paume,” which means “game of the hand.” There is not a bit of information that helps prove the actual date of creation for the game, although it is sometime past the year 1000 AD as well as having a high potential of being created in France. Later on, racquets came into play and this beca...
• The ball has to be between head and knee height. • The ball can bounce before getting to you. •
First, you must have the correct form. To shoot, you must remember that you use one hand not two. The second hand is there to guide the ball to make sure you shoot it straight. So, you will put your dominate hand under the bottom of the basketball and your other hand, the guide hand, on the side of the ball. From there, you must rest the ball on the tips of your fingers so the basketball is not touching the palm of your hand. Lastly,
Put opposite hand on side of ball for balance (but don’t use it to push the ball or the shot will be messed up).
Karch Kiraly, an American volleyball player with two gold medals, once said, “No volleyball game can begin without a serve, and the serve is the only technique that is completely under your control.” The serve is what starts every play and is used to attack the other team’s offense. With the rally scoring used in volleyball today, there is no room for service errors. With plenty of practice and these eight simple steps, you will be serving like a pro in no time. Previous volleyball experience is recommended to successfully complete these steps.

Tennis is a sport that many people love to play. It is not the hardest sport in the world to learn. When playing against someone, it is called a match. Tennis can be played one on one or a doubles match. The main object of the game is to hit the ball over the net, inside of the lines so that the opponent can't get to it. There are two lines about two feet parallel to each other that outline the court. In a singles match, the inner line is the out of bound line, while the outer line is out of bounds in a doubles match. If you want to play, take a look at my two favorite tennis players because they are masters at serving and scoring, a few key aspects of the game.
Hearing the loud “thump” as the ball hits the racket is extremely satisfying, especially if your life now revolves around this fast-paced and exhilarating sport. Tennis is an outdoor game played by two individuals or pairs of players on a clay or grass court that’s divided by a low net. Each game is played with tennis rackets and small, yellow elastic balls. Tennis was first introduced in Wales and the United Kingdom in 1873 by “Major Walter Wingfield” (tennistheme.com). While most sports are easy to pick up, tennis takes extreme dedication to learn how to play the game, to perfect the amount of technique it takes, as well as its great impact on one’s personal life.
Tennis is played by many professionals all around the world. For professionals, such as Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and many others, there are four grand
I can vividly remember back when I was on the High school tennis team at 17 years old, going from school to school and competing at high temperatures. A leisure sport but also an intense sport especially in a competitive age. I remember talking with my coach, also my math calculus teacher, about how to improve my game. My first year playing tennis with a year
