In the world today the population is continuously growing and we are able to travel internationally more easily than ever before due to transportation technological advancements (Bethel, 2018). These two factors greatly increase the risk of contracting and spreading infectious diseases. I, personally, am pro-vaccination. While I know minimal, in-depth details about certain infectious diseases I do trust that governmental and research agencies are working to improve the general public’s quality of life. Vaccinations are one way that these agencies are able to achieve improved quality of life goals but the agencies can only do so much. Some responsibilities rest at the hands of the general public, such as taking the vaccinations that are required or suggested by these agencies. It is hard for me to say that I think children who are not vaccinated should be removed from public schools but it is risky to allow un-vaccinated and vaccinated children to interact with each other on a daily basis. Legal guardians that have chosen to have their child/children vaccinated are hoping to prevent their children from becoming infected but a vaccine only helps to fight off an infectious disease. A vaccine does not remove all threats of infection. In fact, viruses can mutate or change over time increasing risks for those who are and are not vaccinated.
I feel that vaccinations are primarily neglected due to a legal guardian’s fear of the unknown. Legal guardians may be freighted to force their child/children to participate in vaccinations that they are not fully
