On Tuesday, September 23rd, I had the opportunity to do a ride along with the Takoma Park police department. My ride along was quite interesting. I rode with Officer Carl, a twenty-six-year-old officer who has been with the police department for six months. During the ride along we engaged in so many conversations concerning his work routine, and some the important things to be aware of as a police officer. Officer Carl and I were about the same age group so I felt much comfortable talking to him. Before I went for the ride along I had a different perspective about police work, I thought police work was much amusing and entertaining, but after the ride along with Officer Carl, I have realized that there is much more to police work and it often
You need to learn to multi-task or already be good at multi-tasking which means you need to be able to find patient charts, communicate well with the RN’s and physicians, and be able to assist the patients when necessary. Crime Scene Investigators analyze and document evidence they work everywhere and start off making $ 55,660 a year. The most challenging thing will be look at the bodies and doing all the paperwork. I think I will dislike the hours sometimes. But I like that I get to do something i enjoy, so the hours won't affect me. The best part of the day will be when I figure out a case. You can work your way up to be a Forensic Technician.
Ever since I was little I was extremely observant of the people surrounding me. I would watch and study their behaviors, always trying to figure out their thoughts and emotions. Recently I have realized that I could put my childhood play into a real life paying job, only instead of my peers I would get to study criminals. I don’t know much about Forensic Psychology other than the fact that I must achieve a PsyD, and I would be assigned different cities to live and work in. I want to learn about what is necessary for me to get the job, what the pay is, and what is required of me once I get the position.
Did you know that the first private investigation agency was started by a criminal? While conducting research over this particular topic I learned a lot of interesting information regarding the type of work done by private investigators, as well as the potential employment opportunities. This world is a crazy and deceptive place and it is up to us to get to the truth of everything. Becoming a private investigator will be a time consuming, potentially dangerous, yet extremely rewarding career path. (History of Private Investigations, 2013)
Registered Nurses provide patient care, teach patients about different health conditions, and provide emotional support for patients and their family members. A normal day for an RN would include monitoring patients, keeping accurate records of vital signs and other medical information, administering medications, and communicating with their co-workers to provide the best health care for their patients. There are two ways to become an RN, you could either graduate from a college nursing program with an associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree, then you must pass an exam to obtain a license. Some colleges in Pennsylvania you could attend for this particular career would include Villanova University College of Nursing and Alvernia University. For this job along with any other health career you must be patient, understanding, and responsible. The average annual salary for RNs is $65,000-$70,0...
I’ve always known what I wanted to be when I grew up. A tougher task, figuring out what I was going to be.
With all the computer hacking Mat executed in Overdrive I could not help but think about the television show, Person of Interest. While much of the book is about cars, if you focus on the finer details of the story you can see how everything the teenagers managed to pull off was due to the help of computers. Without Mat shutting off security cameras and alarm systems, the mission would be a total bust.
Using Forensic Psychology “Comes from the word "forensic" comes from the Latin word "forensis," meaning "of the forum," Where the law courts of ancient Rome were held” (ABFP). Having many different branches of forensic psychology in 2001 the American Psychological association named it a branch of clinical psychology. Forensic psychology is the study or practice of the law and expands to all aspects of law enforcement. Working closely with the court forensic psychologist is typically appointed to assess the client and their mental state, and determine the client sanity level before entering the court room.
In recent history, private security guards have been portrayed as “want to be police officers” or a “flashlight cops” trying to enforce laws. In retrospect, those days are over and the trends and demands of private security service have increased drastically. In most states, a certified security guard may have a higher standard of training and are better educated than most police officers or those in related law enforcement fields.
How many of you think about what you want to be when you grow up? How many see themselves as an upper class citizen in a couple of years? Are you attracted to a particular career because of the money or the adventure? All of these are questions most of us are being faced with at this point in our lives. We have to ask ourselves, would we rather have a job that we love regardless of the money, or would we rather make a ton of money but hate what we do?

What is one profession centered on the protection and preservation of society? Police officers take an oath to do exactly that, protect and preserve society for those who cannot do so. There are approximately 900,000 police officers in the United States (National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund), compared to the population of approximately 320 million people (United States Census Bureau). Police officers have very stressful jobs that include long hours, working in “the spotlight”, lack of support, exposed
My dream career is to be a detective. My reason for studying or wanting to be in this career is because I want to help people find what they are looking for. I want to be able to make people smile and be happy. Another reason for me researching this career is because I think it’s a something I would enjoy doing. It’s a job I would want to wake up every morning to do. Yes there are going to be those days were I do not want to wake up and do my job but that’s part of life you have to do thing sometimes you don’t want to do such as wake up to go to school early. I have chosen this career because I like to work with people. In this career you get to work with many different people in your career field. In my career field as a detective I get to work with many people, such as the police officers, S.W.A.T team and at times the C.I.A.
Planning your life out ahead of time is absolutely one of the best things you could ever do. As a child growing up, all I could ever think of was what I wanted to be when I had gotten older. Never was I a normal kid, I planned my whole life out at the age of seven. Only thing I was never sure about was the path I wanted to follow as far as a career. A police officer, nurse, dancer, doctor and singer were some of the career choices I decided when I was seven years of age. Did I know my final choice that would fit and pursue my dreams? No. Because of my unclear understanding, I’ve always had a back up plan that I could fall back on to pursue another career of interest. Now as I’m older, I still have a confused mindset on what I would like to focus more on and achieve. Truly, I have a few professions I would like to focus on and gossip about.
