Presuppositional Apologetics Essay

After looking through and analyzing the various methodological positions, I feel as though the position that most closely represents my own philosophy of apologetics right now is Presuppositional Apologetics. Presuppositional Apologetics is more persuasive to me because I strongly believe that in order to make sense of reality we need a strong reliance on God and our Christian faith. It is only through our Christian faith and this theistic worldview that we are able to have a basis for rational thought. The truths of the Bible are to be followed rather than other world views that can lead us to irrational thoughts and actions.
I believe that it is only through the Bible and the Christian faith that we are able to make sense of reality. Without this theistic window, there would be no accurate basis for the possibility of independent reason. Christian’s worldview conforms to a superior reality …show more content…

When interacting with non-believers we are to always use the Bible as our guide. Just like the prophets and apostles, we should never try to prove God’s existence but we should start by assuming his existence. We then can reason with non-Christians on the basis of scripture. By using the scripture as a guide we are setting the non-Christian against God rather than on us and our own imperfect thinking. I have found that through my own witnessing experiences, I have unintentionally assumed the existence of God when sharing with non-Christians. I have not tried to prove God’s existence but have started with reasoning on God’s behalf ad telling of all that he has done. Since Presuppositional apologetics seems to follow my beliefs and that way in which I witness to non-Christians I found it to be the position in which I was closely identified with and persuaded
