Pre-writing skills
What are pre-writing/writing readiness skills?
Prewriting skills refer to the basic skills children need to learn before they can write. These skills improve the child's ability to handle a pencil, draw, write, copy, and apply color to drawings. One of the most important aspects of prewriting skills is the ability to use of pre-writing shapes. Pre-writing shapes make up the pencil strokes that are used to form letters, numbers, and early drawings. A child will master the pre-writing shapes in sequential order as they grow. Some of the pencil strokes include |,-, /, x, \,+,o, Δ, square.
Why are writing readiness skills essential?
Prewriting skills are vital because they help the child develop the ability to hold and move

Crossing the mid-line: This is the ability to cross the imaginary line that divides the body into left and right sides and extends from a person’s nose to pelvis.
Pencil-grasp: Refers to how effective the child is at holding the pencil, therefore producing pencil generation appropriate to the child's age.

All the information about your tires can be found on the sidewall or your vehicle's user manual. A typical tire label will look like this: P195/60R16 63H M+S. The P195/60R16 refers to the tires size measurements including diameter, width, and aspect ratio. The H refers to the tire's speed rating, while M+S means the tire is suitable for all-season driving. 63 stands for the loading of the tire. Always ensure that you buy the same Sze measurements as your old tires, but you can exceed the load and speed
As the first semester of my sophomore year wraps up, I begin to realize that I have learned a lot in all of my classes. The class that I learned the most from has definitely been my English 111 course. This class have given me so many opportunities to improve my writing skills. With all of the success I’ve had in this class, I believe I will do just fine with writing later in my life.
Drawing – According to the Oxford Dictionary, drawing is, “A picture or diagram made with a pencil, pen, or crayon rather than paint.” In this study, a drawing is a series of marks that compose a composition done with pencil and charcoal. The drawings are made by hand and recorded in either a sketch book or on loose paper. Gesture Drawings – Gestures are movements that express ideas (Oxford Dictionary).
Handwriting is a means of expressing language, just like speech. However, handwriting is not taught in school as much as in previous years. In the past, handwriting was taught as a precursor to reading and spelling. Today, students of all ages are rigorously tested on their writing skills, yet they are not allowed the time it takes to develop this skill. I remember writing in a Big Chief notebook, holding a chubby pencil, trying my best to make the curves and lines of the letters just right. When I attended elementary school, the teacher devoted at least forty-five minutes to handwriting each day. Handwriting should still be taught in school because it is an essential first step to reading and expressing one’s thoughts and feelings and because of its impact on higher education.
Maria Konnikova states in her article “What’s Lost as Handwriting Fades” that “[I]n alexia, or impaired reading ability, some individuals who are unable to process print can still read cursive, and vice versa.” This fact proves how vital at least a few lessons on cursive writing could be. Children suffering from various learning disabilities will be more successful if they are taught more ways to succeed. For some children cursive will be a real challenge and they would much prefer to use standard writing. For others, cursive will help them remember things more

Muscular Strength: This works with muscular endurance to be able produce force for a short period of
According to Neumann, a force can be considered a push or pull that can produce, arrest or modify movement and can be measured as F=ma (Neumann, 2010). Force can also be considered the load. In regards to muscle contraction force relative to the joint, the force can be the internal force produced by the muscle itself, the force of gravity or the force of the particular load/weight. Torque is a cross product between force and the distance of the force from the fulcrum and is the ability of a force to cause rotation on a lever. Torque is a measure of how much a force acting on an
With the swarm of technology, handwriting, a vital skill, may be on the brink of extinction, despite that it is able to create a “model citizen, assimilate immigrants, and even reform juvenile delinquents” (Korper). Believe it or not: handwriting is important. However, the debate about handwriting is still questionable. Handwriting allows for effective memory retention and is an significant and unique action to develop certain regions of your brain (Grossberg). However, handwriting is also outdated and lacks the agility of the keyboard (Korper). Nonetheless, some of these positive aspects of handwriting are largely due to the ‘drill’ factor emphasized in the Palmer Method of handwriting used present day (Korper).
There are two different areas that are important for testing handgrip strength, those are anatomical and physiological. Anatomically, grip strength and muscle mass are related with a correlation factor (r) = 0.60. Handgrip strength develops mainly as a function of the muscles in the forearm, as well as the muscles in the hand. Physiologically, grip strength participants reach peaks of 0.3 s to 2.7 s. These results help to show that the energy pathway involved in maximal muscle strength comes from the phosphagen system, which is the primary biochemical reaction for strength. (Beam & Adams 2014).
Motor skills are motions carried out when the brain, nervous system, and muscles work together. The body must effectively use mind/body connection and awareness of their surroundings for the muscles and bones to develop fine and gross motor skills. Both of these motor skills start out as reflexes, the body has not learned them but they are uncontrollable movements. That is then later learned and perfected making large and...

Nevertheless, coloring and drawing are important techniques in developing and enhancing various social skills among children. Some of the skills acquired include pencil grasping skills, motor control skills and finally hand separation skills. It is expected by occupational therapists that a child begins by using small writing tools. These writing tools would then be used in big coloring areas to smaller and smaller areas. Accuracy level is also enhanced which is also part of social skills development and
