Introduction
Prayer is talking to God with love. It does not need to be scripted, said on your knees, or in a particular location.
God understands all languages, dialects, accents, and yes, he can even understands slang.
This is a collection of my conversations with God or with myself. I wrote them when I was hurt, desperate, scared, frustrated, joyful, and thankful.
I believe in the power of prayer, especially those based on the Word of God. Many of the prayers in this collection are laced with scriptures. It is my way of challenging God and taking Him at His Word.
I started writing (literally) my prayers back in 2007. Over the years and up till now, depending on where I am, I still write on bits of paper and in my prayer notebook. I also

This saddens me because upon reflection, there were some situations in my life that needed effectual and fervent prayer. So if no one buys this book, putting it together would still be worth it; for I would now have my prayers in a more accessible format for my own personal use.
That being said, my prayer is that many will be able to relate and find comfort in my expressions. I am sure you have heard a Preacher or two say “you have to learn to encourage yourself.” Well trust me, the only reason I am still alive today is because I have had to do just that. The Inspiration section is recordings of me talking to me, me boosting me, me convincing myself to hold on and not give

Today I Choose CLARITY
No more confusion, distortion, or frustration. I choose that which is pure, uninhibited, unencumbered, and free. Free to choose, to dance, to croon, or to just be.
Today I Choose AUTHENTICITY
No more smokes and mirrors, masks and facades, costumes and battle gear that just don’t fit. I have to be me. There is no other like me. I am unique, fearfully and wonderfully made by a creator who knew exactly what problem he mixed my idiosyncrasies, weaknesses, strengths, traits, and passions to solve. Because there is only one me, it is unforgiveable that I have wasted so much time trying to be someone else. So today, I am choosing to be my authentic self.
Today I Choose MUSIC
Whether it’s the inspiration of a gospel song, the humor in a familiar ditty, or the hip-shaking, bottom rolling beat of a piece of rock or soca music. I choose to get lost in the melodies and allow them to soothe my soul and calm those giants. I choose music because it is and has always been a lifeline. It’s familiar, it’s always there, and you get to know it so intimately and yet, it never judges you.

E.M. Bounds wrote a wonderful book devoted to prayer entitled Power Through Prayer. This book encourages the preacher to become a true prayer warrior. E.M. Bounds has written many books on prayer, encouraging Christians to devote their life to prayer. Since the writer is coming from a preacher background himself, one can clearly see the passion he has for prayer in his life. Fellow preachers will hopefully be encouraged by this and want to devote their life to prayer, so that they will better their preaching. Bounds exemplifies through his work that preaching has no power without prayer. He also sets forth the idea that prayer is the life-giving force behind our work for God. In reading this book, it inspires one to pray more and be able to be more effective in their ministry.
N. T. Wright’s The Case for the Psalms: Why They Are Essential reminds us of the differences found within the importance of God’s time, space, and matter in comparison to our time, space and matter perspectives. In our limited human capacity we as human kind take our miscues from the human perspective when chasing after the material gains of this world as we put our prayerful meditations and relationships to God on the back burner of our lives while redirecting our energies toward the relationships we cultivate with our wealth. If we as Christian cultivate our relationship with God we will be recognize the wealth we seek can only be found in our relationship with Our Father and Our Savior Jesus Christ as He is the provider of our wealth. He sees clearly our needs providing for them daily. If we could see the realities of our time, spac...
If one were to look back into the world’s history, one would find that an important and consistent element is the world of music. Music has presented itself in various forms throughout its spread and through our identification of its magical realm, people have been fortunate enough to come across a means of relation. Whether it is blues and reggae or rap and pop rock, there is music out there for everyone. Music can serve as a stabilizer for some, a relaxant to others, and to many a form of inspiration.
If this book was rated like a movie I would give it 5 stars and if this were a song I would pray that it would an academy award, this is how amazing this book is. Before reading this book, I just wanted it to help me better my relationship with God and answer a few questions that I had regarding where I stood with God. This book exceeded my expectations and it has opened the doors for me to not only be my own preacher but help other find God and help them establish a relationship with him. Reading this book, has encouraged me to start going to church more often and attend bible studies or youth group and pray more. I think people belittle the power of prayer and they do not realize how much a prayer can do and the healing powers they
...ed. The psalmist said, “Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my help and my God.” The psalmist remains caught between despair and hope.
The cornerstone of any relationship with someone is the ideal of grace and mercy. When grace is absent, dealing with people becomes difficult we develop issues with trust. Grace involves hoping that God is listening and will answer all prayers in ways according to His will. Digging into the cross of hope and prayer, this paper discusses the theological definition, biblical foundation, and practical application in order to identify how the two connect. These principles have helped me learn what it means to be a Christian.
prayer was pointless on the account of God will do what is right regardless of you asking. Kant
As little as five years ago, whenever I attempted to read Scripture I would often “flip” open the Bible and proceed to read a couple of paragraphs or a short chapter looking for inspiration from the Holy Spirit (Lectio Divino). Often my “flipping” would land me in the Psalms. I shamefully admit that I would quickly re-flip to something I deemed more suitable. It is a sad fact; I had almost no relationship with the Psalms. Worst still, I had no desire to develop a relationship. To me the Psalms seemed cryptic, chaotic, and incoherent. They were boring and irrelevant with little to no connection to the modern world.
I agree with Camp’s discussion on prayer because, as the title of the chapter it self says, it demonstrates how Christian disciples trust in God instead of flawed human calculations of how things will turn out. Prayer also helps make us obedient to God’s will, especially when used in a context similar to “The Lord’s Prayer”, where we as Christians ask the Lord to fulfill His will on earth and provide for our daily needs as we take up our cross on a daily basis to help establish His coming
Book Review of The Path of Prayer: Four Sermons on Prayer by St. Theophan the Recluse
Music is one of the most fantastical forms of entertainment. Its history stretches all the way from the primitive polyrhythmic drums in Africa to our modern day pop music we listen to on our phones. It has the ability to amaze us, to capture our attention and leave us in awe. It soothes the hearts of billions, and it is so deeply rooted in my life that it has touched my heart as well. Everyday I walk to the beat of the song stuck in my head and hum along to the melody. For me, to listen to music be lifted into the air by the hands of your imagination and float around for a while. You forget about your worries, your troubles and find peace within the sound. Every chapter in my life is attached with a song. Every time I listen to a certain song, thoughts of my past come flooding back
Music has always been a big part of my life. Music is not just a bunch of melodies, rhythms, and vibrant sounds. It is a comfort to me. The lyrics of a song challenge my intellect and the rhythms and beats affect my emotions. Music understands me when people don’t. At times it takes me back to an event in my life or even in history. Both consciously and subconsciously my mind remembers the emotions that are attached to a certain song. It can make me feel on top of the world or the complete opposite; music can change the atmosphere and also set the mood. Music has power over my human soul. It soothes it. I cannot imagine not having music to listen to. It is a powerful force and my love for it is incredible.
Music is an essential part of life because of the expression it allows people to have, its entertainment, and its therapeutic ways for the world.
I must pray for the coming worship services and for those the Lord would have to be there. Often, I preach a message, then realize that someone who really needed it wasn't even present to hear. I need to pray about those who are our members who need to be there and also for the prospects we have contacted through the week.
Prayer is an intimate one on one conversation with the almighty, wonderful God that you are having a relationship with. It is a special time and you are going before God who is above all.
