In a world of sick and injured people, many of them can benefit from this occupation. Helping the people of our globalized community can cause positive impacts not only in the area and for the individuals themselves but on the economy as well. Being a doctor and the process of becoming one allows me to learn as I push forward in my career and education.
Making a difference in my work and community takes hard work and dedication. By sacrificing more time and putting in more dedication to my work, I can learn more about the job and the different styles of how everything works.
I have many great attributes, such as my kindness towards others. Being kind to others and helping them get better from illness or injuries is a great way to make a positive change in another person's life. I intend to help others with my kindness, so I can positively develop the community around me, and my dedication to my work can get me to my goal of making everyone’s lives better as their injuries and illness are treated.
Another great aspect of my personality is my determination and willpower to go on with the goal I have set for myself. I am dedicated to my work, whatever it may be, and I will finish what has been started. I will use my dedication, determination, and kindness to make a change in my community and to achieve my goal of becoming a
Last summer I volunteered at a local hospital for a total of 136 hours. At the end of the summer I received an honorable mention award for being a dedicated volunteer who is highly respected around the hospital. Furthermore, I've been a committed volunteer during this school year. I have also been an active member of my school's HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) chapter; this March I will be competing in a medical terminology competition against members of other HOSA chapters across the state. Additionally, I am a devoted member of my school's academic decathlon team. Finally, I have been a member of CSF (California Scholarship Federation) for the past two years.
The AMGEN Summer Scholars research experience will contribute to my plans to become a M.D./Ph.D. candidate, and ultimately an Oncologist, by helping me develop critical and independent thinking as well as creative skills as they relate to the field of medicine. It will also help me develop a more thorough understanding of biological concepts, how they directly apply to medical treatment, and the ways in which biotechnology fuses multiple fields of science to create technologies to care for others. The opportunity to assist in creation of the technologies that will be used on my future patients will ultimately improve my ability to treat their illnesses in adaptive ways. The opportunity I would have to read, interpret, and be a part of creating
As a child I did not know a lot about college. None of the adults in my life had been to College, my family did not talk about it, and it seemed like a distant land that I heard about only in movies and on Television. I was first introduced to college when my third grade class took a field trip to Iowa State University, clearly a much needed field trip considering my lack of exposure to higher education. I was immediately amazed by the grand architecture and massive buildings. I had never seen anything like a University campus before. The few things that I remember about the trip were that everything was big, the college students played with us, and we got to swim in the pool. While the larger purpose of the field trip may have been lost to my childhood excitement of getting to swim in a big pool, the field trip did mark the beginning of my knowledge of higher education and from then on I always viewed it as something that I would be a part of eventually, even if it did seem like a very distant future at age eight. As I grew older I developed other reasons for wanting to attend colle...
A global citizen is that who is willing to use its voice and knowledge to make a change. No one would ever be able to make a change in just one day, it is something that takes time and devotion. I’m really interested in diversity and I’m seeking to what is my role is as a world citizen. The fact that I’m searching for an international education is the proof of my desire to establish myself as a global citizen and my interest in the world issues.
The life of a successful physician is my ultimate pursuit due to its fulfilment of all of my personal desires: a complete knowledge of the human body, a desire to impact the world positively, and a yearning to lead a life dedicated to helping others. My personal drive towards medicine came about-in part -due to the passion both my parents possess for their jobs. This opened the doors of curiosity which led into further personal studies and exploration within the field. I would be an asset to medical school and the medical profession due to my absolute humanitarian motives, the profitable experiences that have helped me grow as an individual, and my passion for the sciences.
Three aspects of my personality are avoidant, high on conscientiousness and a high need for achievement. These personality characteristics were studied using different theories, the attachment theory, Big Five, and the motivational theory. Together, these aspects make me who I am. I am someone who is driven, hard working, disciplined, and has a hard time trusting and letting other people into my personal life. Everyone has their different personality traits which make them unique, and that’s the beauty of humans. No one is exactly like anyone
Scholarship is a concept that can mean many different things to many different people. As nursing students, scholarship is a concept that we began developing before we started our formal nursing education, will continue to hone during nursing school, and will utilize every day as professional nurses. Scholarship is not something that comes from a singular source, but rather something that is the product of many different experiences, ideas, and types of knowledge. For nurses, it is the synthesis of knowledge from liberal education, knowledge from a variety of disciplines, and the integration of ways of knowing and thinking in nursing that promote scholarship, which in turn leads to the promotion of safe, quality patient care.
Personally I am certain my strongest personality trait is my support. I am a very supportive person, particularly toward those I care most about but also to people I know that have a goal
As a student that is currently seeking a career in the medical professions, I have had to routinely contemplate my reasons for pursuing such an extensive education program in a field that is constantly demanding excessive time and effort. I know of students—many friends and acquaintances of mine included—that have the most sure-fire, inspirational stories that align with their desire to become doctors, surgeons, physician assistants, etc. They always seemed to have a story that emphasized their desire to “give back” what they have received from the medical community. Because of that, ever since the beginning of high school, I have been trying to find an extraordinary reason, a purpose for my medical pursuits. Perhaps I could justify my passion for
If I can impact one patient’s life the way she has mine, than the 7 years of my childhood spent in a hospital and the 7 years of schooling I am currently at the beginning of will absolutely be worth it. A scholarship would allow me to more smoothly get to the point where I can truly make a difference. With the help of a scholarship, I can focus on becoming the best physical therapist I can possibly be and worry less about the financial burden it puts on my family and me. I fully understand the privilege that it is to be able to obtain a college education, and I am determined not to squander that privilege. With the amount of time I have spent as a patient, I know I will bring a unique outlook to the field; all I need are the tools to get
Nursing Corps scholarship program mission is to provide qualified and dedicated nurses to provide amazing care to patients in underserved communities. It will be an honor for me to serve and provide quality care to patients when I graduate from nursing school and pass the board exam.
This generous scholarship that was awarded to me will greatly free up my time to continue my studies, without having to worry about seeking out other scholarships. I will also be able to ease some of my burdens about my future financial situation by carrying a lower student loan balance. Also, receiving this scholarship will help me further my goal of becoming a medical doctor, and graduating from medical school. After graduating medical school and becoming a doctor, I plan to head into the field of psychiatry. This very generous scholarship will help fund another year of college, so that I may achieve these lofty goals in the future.
I am an intuitive-feeling personality. I am charismatic, participative and very people oriented. I tend to focus on the big picture and not the small specifics. I am not power hungry and try to be helpful and giving to those around me.
A scholar-citizen is an individual who exudes a passion for academics and acts on the need to give back to his or her community. In UNC-Charlotte’s University Honors Program, each and every student is a scholar-citizen. Even though each student is indicative of UHP’s scholar-citizenship model, what each of them contributes to the program is unique and exceptional. If I were to be accepted into the University Honors Program, I would continue to build upon the scholar-citizenship foundation based on my academic excellence and community involvement, as well as expose myself to and connect with other remarkable students who desire to positively contribute to the program and help other students succeed. The first part of being an acceptable University Honors Program candidate is illustrating exceptional scholarship.
People who decide to become medical doctors need to make several sacrifices. The training is long and difficult. Furthermore, it does not end with school because doctors are required to learn about new problems and advances in the field of medical science for the rest of their lives. However, there is a positive side in becoming a doctor. It is not just about learning complicated procedures and going through rigorous training. Being a doctor means that a person is required to nurture the positive fundamental characteristics of the human mind. Doctors have to be truthful, both to their patients and their patients' relatives. They need to be above discrimination. If doctors practice medicine with a correct attitude and respect towards the oaths taken, they have an opportunity to develop all positive qualities of a human being and improve people's living standards without sacrificing their own.
