Throughout History we’ve seen what the power of persuasion has done. It has created wars, initiated religions, and established empires. In Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave”, Plato states that people are afraid to have their beliefs shattered, and if they could they would even consider killing to preserve their beliefs. It seems we are still inside Plato’s analogy of a cave. After two thousand years we still find ourselves inside the cave. I don’t believe we choose to be in the cave, it’s just human nature. People have always looked for guidance, whether it was a teacher, celebrity, or parents. However, there’s a difference between guidance and following. People in this Era won’t go as far as killing, although few will. Instead they shame you until you follow what they follow, adults call it Peer Pressure. In a matter of speaking I’ve come out the cave. I never cared about school, maybe it was the people I spent time with. Although I believe it was my choice not to care, not to care about school and grades. Similar to the dwellers I was chained in my beliefs, my parents and teachers tried to help me, tried to set me free. I ignored every single one of them. Although the artist 2Pac did changed my mind, yet his death is older than me. Music is more influential than anything else. Maybe is the fact that they don’t talk directly at you, but makes you feel that they mean every word they say. Anyways, I started seeing his interviews, and he spoke with such a passion, and he didn’t speak like he knew better. Since then, I believe I’ve become a better person and a better student.
