Poverty in the Philippines

706 Words2 Pages

The Philippines has had a major problem ever since poverty has struck there. Especially when the typhoon hit the Philippines and where people lost their lives and homes and have nowhere else to live. Now poverty has affected a quarter percentage of the population and is still increasing. About 30% of the population is living under the poverty line. These statistics show that we need to do something about this poverty and end it; not only in the Philippines, but also in other places of the world. Can you just imagine how much suffering they are facing right now, while we take our things for granted. This will help the Philippines make it a better place to live. That’s why I am writing this essay to inform you on what we could do to abolish poverty.
Lets begin by explaining when and how it was caused in the Philippines. ANYWHERE in the world poverty is caused by 3 major things; corruption(lack of good governance), lack of(poor quality) education, and low wages(a poor economy). These 3 things causes poverty, and that is what is happening right now in the Philippines. If the Philly(lets just call it the Philly just to avoid argument) were to not have any of these things, then they wouldn’t have any problems. According to teenonk.com corruption causes poverty because it subtracts from the budget of both the government and its citizens. Also corruption has a role to play in the context of increasing taxes, which really affect their currency problems. Lack of education also causes poverty to; this is due to the fact that individuals with education get more that those of people without it. Low wages, or a poor economy, causes poverty because more often than not, help people in poverty, earn wages that aren,t enough to help them. Because...

World Bank is was also associated with this program too, and they are also donated $20 million and donated food, clothing, and water. At least there are people who are doing something to help. That is what we should do to. That is all the organizations that I got that are helping abolish/alleviate the poverty in the Philippines.
