Feminism’s Effects on Society
What does feminism mean? Is it a dirty word that creates images of angry women refusing to shave their legs? That is nowhere near what feminism is; it is a belief that all people—male, female, or non-binary—are equal and deserve equal opportunities. In modern times, it is very rare that a Christian church has female leaders. This could be caused by ancient philosophers (Haddad, 2006). Aristotle once said, “The male is by nature superior, and the female inferior; and the one rules, and the other is ruled.” Other philosophers like him said similar things; Christian philosophers adopted these teachings, and they bled into the church. (Haddad, 2006). These ideas are outdated and do not coincide with the early church. Strong women have always existed in the church. Instead, he has a partner who shares the money-making responsibility. Likewise, feminist women in relationships are not forced to keep their houses pristine at all times; they have a partner to aid in the labor. By balancing the responsibilities and powers that are usually skewed in non-feminist relationships, couples find an equilibrium and are not stressed to impress the other with responsibilities they might have all on their own. Lastly, a feminist knows that she is not confined to unrealistic beauty standards, and this creates a healthier relationship. Women with low self-esteem tend to be more afraid to share feelings, stand up for themselves, and be more conservative in expressing herself due to her insecurities and fears. However, a confident woman is able to express herself freely, and she will have no fears of confrontation or failure. She is able to communicate better with her partner and therefore have
