There were many negative effects of the Roman conquests. They ranged from effects of those holding the highest offices in Rome, the most disadvantaged of Roman citizens, to the individuals that lived on the periphery of their provinces. All of these factors changed to heart of Rome that seemed to be headed into a society that placed value in those that it represented and sought to improve the plight of those in lower positions. With the wealth of conquest and the influencing experience of seeing the lavish lifestyles of those they conquered changed the mentality of those leading the Roman people.
