People who are rude, selfish, cold are often termed narcissists but not all narcissists obtain those traits, In fact many of them are deceptively endearing, with a lack of empathy the only key and common trait amongst them. Although commonly mistaken as overconfidence, there are distinct differences between the two; with a need for attention and specificity of situation the easiest aspect separating the 2. While narcissists need attention and compliments from others overconfident people don’t need it and are reliant on their own belief in their ability. Pop culture is the totality of ideas, lifestyles, views and other occurrences that are conventional within a culture. Most of the western culture has been determined by the mass media portraying everyday society through entertainment, sports, news, politics, fashion, technology and language defining what should be mainstream or not, for example; making Jesus historically white, super bowl, award shows barbeque or that love and happiness are important in a marriage etc. Exponential advances in technology has made an increase in access to, from social media outlets to celebrity culture, this exposure has only enhanced the narcissistic behavior; the quest for fame and individual glory has normalizes narcissism. As time continually advances history, new innovations, societal events, practices, personality, beliefs, fashion and the evolution of technology characterize the change in each generation. Obamas election, social media, 2008 financial crisis, talk shows, diversity, gender issues, smart phones, computers, Iraq war and 9/11 are some of the societal events that occurred within the millennial growth timeline. Before the computer age, generations where limited to their nationality with history locally existing to them, but the information age through the use of all ne technology has allowed instantaneous connection and sharing with strangers around the world one’s experience. Pop culture exists as an educational basis for the millennial generation, with the trends which influence the world millennials know and understand. Most people base their judgements of the world entirely on the media no matter the facts, because they feel it is an easy and accurate portrayal of the outside world which they cannot experience as these forms of media make certain things a norm, it becomes part of our everyday
