What is the “right” answer to the question, “How many police officers does a jurisdiction need?”There is no right answer.The number of officers depend on the level of police service needed or desired. There are no fixed standards in this respect. The number of officers required depends on citizens’ desire pertaining to service levels such as response time, proactive patrol, traffic law enforcement, patrol visibility in residential neighborhoods, and extent of follow-up investigation.
