It is a crucial time in today’s world concerning race and prejudice. In the book To Kill a Mockingbird there are a lot problems with some of the characters concerning these two topics. One of the characters has a biracial relationship that causes controversy. There was a trial with a black man that causes a lot of difficulties with the whole town. Recently there has been altercations concerning policeman with bias crimes all over our country. Mr.Dolphus Raymond is an example of prejudice and racism of the town members. Dolphus Raymond is a wealthy man who owns land and lives right outside the county line. He is in a relationship with a black woman and had mixed race children. He is always walking around with a brown paper bag that town members think has alcohol in it. The whole point of him having the brown paper bag is so that people would focus on him on being a drunk instead of focusing on the relationship that he is in. …show more content…

Recently there has been a lot of news about police brutality towards people of a certain race. According to a 2011 U.S. Department of Justice survey, 54% of Asian teenagers, 38.4% of black students, 34.3% of Hispanic students show that they have been bullied in classrooms. According to
Michelle Pincince who directs school programs on bullying for the Connecticut Anti-Defamation League ,"Racism is everywhere, whether it's urban, suburban or rural." As stated to Vox Topics in the article ,“Police officers explain how they’re encouraged to act in racist ways.” Cops are using violence on innocent people. In conclusion racism is everywhere nowadays. The book to kill a mockingbird is actually slightly similar to what's happening to date. Both in the book and today people of different races are being accused of crimes that they may or may have not committed. No one should be judged by their race, religion, or skin
