Police Brutality

Police Brutality is an ongoing problem and existent concern in the United States and should be resolved immediately. Law enforcement must function as an element that consists of organized and civilized officers. The presence of police brutality is becoming more of an issue as society grows. The problem posed by the illegal exercise of police power. Many officers join the force to make this country better, but you always have some people who may join for power or control etc. Which is why there have been so many instances of police brutality and overall why it needs to stop.

The 4th amendment clearly states that “the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated and no warrants shall issue without probable cause.” but yet look how often and fatally black people are victimized in this country There are times when murder is not the end result; sometimes systemic racism in the judicial system is what is on full display. This was the case with Chad Holley who was 15, whose beating by police officers was captured on video. All of the officers were charged with misdemeanors, and the first officer tried in the case, Andrew Blomberg, was found not guilty. Police brutality has always and without exception been against poor people and or people of color. Beginning with the worker strikes of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. One of the reasons it is so challenging to end police brutality is because police officers are still held in such high regard by the public It is not as though an effort to get rid of bad cops, has not been attempted but it’s hard to fight back when you have such powerful people defending it. If police brutality were just a matter of a few bad apples, it would be a lot easier to solve. But it isn’t. Protecting bad cops is in police culture, and is an issue that has to be corrected with solutions. So what, exactly, can reverse this trend of police officers killing unarmed black people and rarely facing the consequences? Marilyn J. Mosby, the Baltimore prosecutor handling Freddi Gray’s case, is bringing charges (including murder and manslaughter) against the officers who are involved in the Gray's arrest.
