When one is a police officer one is obligated to serve and protect his /her community putting their life first before the rest. However, in this generation, policemen are hurting and murdering black men that are either unarmed or innocent. In the Civil Rights era, people had to take a stand, fight for what was right, and united as one. In the United States, black men are perceived as dangerous and murderous.Black people are humans but treated like animals and each second black men are treated like deer and rabbits during hunting season.The system is havoc and will continue to stay that way if we unite and come together as one. These police brutality cases are sometimes publicized and become the source of debate.Unarmed blacks and Native Americans are twice as likely to be killed by police as members of other ethnic groups and Unarmed blacks were killed by police at 5-times the rate of unarmed whites in 2015. (Sehat Law Firm). Some say that one of the solutions to police brutality is to require extensive training for officers on how to de-escalate intense situations and how to use non-lethal force.Brutality is a term that indicates the excessive use of force by law enforcement. Police fatally shot 1,000 people in the year of 2015 and 90 of them were unarmed (Kindy). In 2015, that number was zero, and that’s not unusual. No officers were convicted on such charges in 2014 either(Ferner).If the police killed nearly a thousand people since the years of 2014-2015 which is a whole year, why are we not opening our eyes? No one wants to open their eyes to the truth; we still live in a country where racism still exists.The people that are supposed to protect us are the ones hurting us the most.
