In the 21st century the pit bull has a bad reputation because of what they used to do and what some of them still do. But some believe if they have an owner that is good and that cares the dog with be a nice dog, but if you have an owner that is a bad owner and that beats the dog or fights the dog yes that dog is gonna have some fight in him because that's all it knows. So pitbulls should not have a bad reputation because of what the owner does to them pit bulls should be equal in the dog world. Pitbulls were made to fight, but that does not mean they have to fight. From the time they were created to now people make it seem like they are just a violent killing dog and there not. It’s what get portrayed on the news and social media what makes them seem like a bad dog, but they won’t show the pit bulls that will protect the house or even be a comfort dog for people that have been in war. Pit bulls are so much more than just an attack dog or a do to fight and kill another dog. …show more content…
The people who train the dogs to be agrssive and compative are most likey doing it for profit from the dog. Or the dogs become that way if the dog is living in proverty. Immigrants from britian brought the annsecestors of the pitbull, and named it the bulldog , to the u.s from Englnad The pitbull was originally created for blood sport also known as bull baiting “(tying a bull to an iron stake that gave him approximately 30 feet to move, and then setting dogs on it in an attempt to immobilize the bull for public entertainment). “ later on blood sporting had been outlawed around 1835 or 1836 but only in the UK. So they figured that the rat baiting would be easier to hide from the cops, and also turned it into a gambling thing for people to make
It is the bad owners that give the pit bull a bad name. Contrary to that popular belief, dangerous animal behavior is the function of inherently dangerous dog owners, not inherently dangerous dogs. One fact that supports this is that pit bulls are the dogs most often shot during drug raids(TELLINGS v. Toledo). Besides the pit bulls that are owned by drug dealers for status symbols and protection, many pit bulls are owned by people that breed them for fighting. These poor dogs have a very slim chance of living a normal and happy life. This is not the fault of the dog, but the fault of the owners that should not have the dog, or should care for them better. The dogs that are forced to fight and are conditioned to defend themselves or die. When these dogs get loose, everything is a threat to them and they defend themselves in the name of survival. If golden retrievers were bred and raised with the sole purpose of fighting to the death, they would be just as dangerous as pit bulls. On the contrary, if all pit bulls were bred and treated as family dogs, they would have the same reputation as golden retrievers, if not better as the statistics found in the temperament test above
Dogs are among the most popular pets to own in America and throughout the rest of the world. People love their dogs and this should continue to be so. However, many opt to own breeds that are known to be dangerous. One of the more common dangerous breeds to own in the United States has become the Pit Bull. While Pit Bulls are not actually recognized as a breed, the name is slang for a dog that shares the characteristics of American Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, or American Pit Bull Terriers (Roemer para 1).
Pit Bulls are not the aggressive breed that everybody makes them out to be. I can understand why there are some people who think that pit-bulls are just mean, but if you get past the looks, they are just big babies.
Owning a pit bull in today’s day and age has one of two reactions: Either the person loves them or is terrified of them. There are so many myths about Pit Bulls and they are just that. Myths. Some of the myths that surround pit bulls are that they have “lock jaw” and they have a killer instinct that does not stop at just killing other animals. Pit bull advocates, such as myself, know that Pit Bulls have always been known as the “nanny dog” throughout history because of how much they love children and their loyalty to their families. Mean or vicious dogs come from ignorant, irresponsible owners. The bottom line is that not all pit bulls are bad.
A lot of people misunderstand the pit bull breeds. They are mistreated and put down for their looks and background. When someone thinks of a pit bull they think of this bad dog who's going the bite them, but really its all on how they are raised. Many of pit bulls are just big babies, and love the attention to cuddle, and give lots of kisses. Any dog can bite you or get into a fight with another dog. Based on researchers decisions and calculations the most aggressive breed is the Dachshund. They also discovered that that one in five have bitten or attempted to bite someone they did not know and one in twelve have went after their owners. Chihuahuas were in second place, and Jack Russells were the third most aggressive
Pit bulls should be pets or mascots and many other things. They kept the dogs for hunters and back for the people that hunted so nothing would happen to them, and if something did happened to them
When I say "Pit Bull" what is the first thing that comes to mind? A mean muscular dog with huge gapping jaws ready to attack? You wouldn't be the only one. Many people visualize the "pit bull" as a vicious dog who is ready to attack anyone who comes near. In reality, the “pit bull” isn't actually a recignized breed by the American Kennel Club, contray to popular belief. "Pit bull" is actually just a term used to identify a breed, or a mix of breeds, that resemble the American Pit Bull Terrrier, which is a recignized breed by the AKC. The general public and the news media often confuse the Staffordshire Terrier, American Bulldog, Boxer, Old English Bulldog, and the Bull Terrier, which all have charicteristics like the American Pit Bull Terrier.
we are proud owners of pit bulls, we currently have 2 however we have raised 4, and only one has had any behavior problem. However it was the original owners who had raised her for the beginning stages of her life, but she managed to break out of it, she can now be around playful children and people. However all of our other dogs turned out completely fine, we never really had any trouble with them. It is all in the owners hands of how the pit will act. There are myths about pit bulls that make them seem more vicious than they really are. First, pits do not actually have locking jaws, however they are terriers and terriers are known to bite, hold, and shake more so than any other breed.Second, they can’t actually endure massive amounts of pain, pits are actually whimpy in some ways. Pit bulls do not like going out into the cold or rain, however when aroused or agitated they may be less responsive to pain. Finally, pits are also not unpredictable, the popular noting that a pit will go their entire life fine then just one day turn on their owner. This is no more likely to happen with pits than it is with any other type of dog. Pit bulls are just like any other dog, they have the same right to be adopted and taken care of like any other
Have you ever heard that pit bulls are nice, friendly dogs? Probably not. Pit Bulls haven’t always been the most friendly dogs. They may be cute and fuzzy, but what about their personality? Pit bulls have been around since the Civil War, when American’s immigrated them. Since then, pit bulls seemed friendly. But over the years, these pit bulls have become very dangerous. Pit bulls should not be kept as pets.
After being breed for dog fights, pit bulls are faced with a strong bias towards being banned. People are focusing too much on the past, when pitbulls are actually good dogs. Pit bulls are great, always sticking around to have fun. They’re friendly, frequently wanting to make new friends. And pit bulls are very loving dogs, always striving to please their owners. Pit bulls are great, friendly, and loving dogs, and they should not be banned.
There are indeed many reasons why Pitbulls should not be banned and among these is the vicious nature of pit bulls. As much as there are those individuals who may argue that Pitbulls are not loving pets that only suffer negative publicity from the media, the facts on the ground speak a different story. Many individuals from different parts of the US have reported their pets being mauled to death by pit bulls and such cases just go to demonstrate the vicious nature of these animals. It is true that pit bulls tend to be very loyal and loving to their owners, but it is also true that these animals have powerful instincts that drive them to attack other dogs and even human beings. Not only are pets viciously attacked by pit bulls on a daily basis, but also human beings are also often attacked by pit bulls. This is especially true when people end up in territories that pit bulls believe are theirs. Unlike many other dogs species that may let go of a victim, a pit bull rarely lets go of its victim and its powerful grip often results in a fatality.Even though all these facts are true, I still don’t think that they should be banned.
Not all pit bulls are mean. For example, a pit bull named, Stubby, saved an entire platoon by barking to alert the soldiers of a poisonous gas attack. His action saved many lives. (“Pit Bulls Haven’t Always Had A Bad Rep”). Pit bulls are only mean if they are trained that way. Any dog can be trained to be aggressive, but if pit bull owners care for their dogs the right way they have been known to be very loving and protective family pets. Pit bulls are territorial just like any other dog and will protect their owner and their home, but outside the home they are normally quite friendly.
Currently, pit bulls have been reported by the media with very horrific and disturbing news of having attacked a child or being shot by a police due to aggression while some are reported to have been abused or neglected by its owners (Forderer and Unkelbach 534). And because the reports keep coming with heated discussions, more and more people have forged a frightening image of pit bulls even to the extreme of refusing to take care of such breed. Pit bull advocates claim that the dogs get a bad reputation considering that people should learn the dogs are not inherently aggressive. What the pit bull advocates would like to point is that the owners of the pit bulls should be considered guilty for mishandling of their own dogs. There are owners of pit bulls that even encourage the dog to be aggressive in order to fight and protect them in a wrong manner and wrong degree of training (Forderer and Unkelbach 536). Pit bull advocates claimed that a well socialized and well trained pit bull would be very intelligent and could be one of the gentle dogs imaginable.
Last but not least, why are they such good dogs? They live for a very long time. They are easy to groom and take care of. According to Dogsbite.org, “The media stretches the truth a lot.” This is very true the blame everything on Pit Bulls when they didn’t do it. They want everyone to be against so that we can get rid of them and not let them back and keep them out of their state or country.
Some people say that pit bulls are awful. other people say otherwise. Could you imagine if you couldn't experience the love, and joy a pit bull has to offer. Everybody should be able to have a pit bull as a pet. Pit bulls just want to be compassionate towards people. They should not be blamed on the media, they are good pets, and can save lives.
