Although, I have trained in dance since the age of six, physical therapy has been an intriguing career option to me since my freshman year of high school because of the courses I was taking. In high school, my passion for physical therapy was ignited when I took my first health class that focused on healthy habits, dealing with keeping the body healthy to prevent injury. I started taking numerous health related honors course that included: health honors, anatomy, and biology honors. In addition, I took the initiative to go above a beyond my educational credit requirements and taking online classes, such as, medical terminology, music appreciation, and government and economics. My dance experience, including my current work consist of technique training, performing, and assisting in all genres of dance at Palmetto Dance Academy and Fine Arts Center. Joining the Health Occupational Students of America club gave me the opportunity to attend several different conventions where I served as patient for an ER team in Charleston, SC. This experience was very beneficial for me, because it allowed me to see how careful you have to be when dealing with a patient and how important it is to get each step to a healing process correct. I took classes, such as dance conditioning and dance science to increase my knowledge not only in dance but most importantly physical therapy. These two classes helped give me a whole new perspective of the human body and how dance can heal through somatic practices and alignment.
