When you fear something, you are either afraid of something or a situation that you believe is dangerous and will cause you harm in some sort of way. If a fear can cause anxiety and inquietude you should consult with a psychiatrist to check if you have a phobia. A phobia is a persistent, irrational fear of a specific object, activity, or situation that leads to a compelling desire to avoid it. Having a fear of something and a having a phobia is said to be the same, but in psychology it is agreed to be divergent because having a phobia goes way beyond a fear. A person with a specific phobia tends to actively withdraw themselves from the objects or situations. The fear or anxiety may be triggered by the presence or the anticipation of the specific object or situation. Most adults may logically know the fear is unreasonable but still find it unmanageable to control the anxiety. Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder distinguished by symptoms of anxiety in situations where the person perceives the environment to be dangerous with no accessible way of leaving, which can lead to panic attacks. The causes of agoraphobia is a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Other conditions that can produce similar symptoms include separation anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, and major depressive disorder. We began the video with three girls that are friends talking about an assignment they all had to read. Two of the three friends read their assignment but one of the friends did not. When the two friends asked the their friend why haven’t she read her part of the assignment, all she had to say was she did not want to. Knowing that there was more to the story, the two friends continued to interrogate her about not reading the assignment and then she finally admits to being afraid of long words.
