Phish: It’s More Than a Concert
Phish has inherited the legacy of the Grateful Dead. A responsibility that includes: playing a different set every night, constant jamming and experimenting. Phish is trailed across the country by adoring fans that think their heroes can do no wrong. What makes them so special is that their music winds together. It is full of freedom and happiness. Their lyrics are totally original; they have this weird way of looking at the world and when they express this in their songs it takes you to a whole different level of thinking.
Phish is one of the most amazing and unique bands that were ever founded. The music is a cross between bluegrass, folk and rock. The fans would pretty much do anything for this band, as they follow them around the country to different cities. In resemblance to the Grateful Dead (A Jam Band during the 70’s and 80’s), Phish puts on long shows with continuous jams. Each show being completely different from any of the other shows that they have performed drives fans to continue to follow this astonishing band. While each musician attended the University of Vermont, no one would have ever thought that this band would have made it huge. “Never thought I could make it this far, with a pain in my soul and a whole in my heart, never thought I could never thought I could but when the lights are turning round the wheels are flowing on the ground, the day I burn this whole place down when the circus comes to town” (Trey Anastasio).
If one should ever go to a Phish concert you wouldn’t know what to expect because, every show is completely different. The peak of the band’s talent was around 1996 when not many people herd of them. They never made the “who’s on tour list” ...

Phish presents fascinating, phenomenal music, loyal fans, and spectacular live shows. This band has been together for about 20 years and is still going strong. They have had their ups and downs but they are still together and that’s all that matters to their fans. “Fame can destroy what you set out to do and all that matters is that we are all still good friends” (Trey Anastasio). The best documentary about Phish is at a concert. I can not explain to you what they are about on paper. I can only give you hints. You need to experience it for yourself, because being at a Phish show is one of the happiest places on earth.
The Grateful Dead was a famous rock and roll band. During the 1960’s, the band had an audience called the “deadheads”. Deadheads were a bunch of druggies. Jerry Garcia was a big part in this band before his fatal health issues came along. The Grateful Dead was a band that impacted society by breaking rules to build their career.

Led Zeppelin was one of the giants of the 1970’s in hard rock. They were also one of the greatest success stories that ever played hard rock music. The group was one the more popular hard rock groups that performed in the seventies, and even had some hits in the 1960’s.

Any topic that was going on around the world, Pearl Jam wrote songs about them and their point of view of just what they thought on the topic. Eddie Vedder’s voice is what also made the group so popular. Vedder’s voice was similar to other bands but also a whole different sound. The voice Eddie Vedder had, formed what we all know now as Pearl Jam. The voice had also an era to it, because Vedder’s voice was similar to other bands it was what also put them in the whole grunge era. They all had that raspy deep voice and what also helped was of course the dumbs and guitar and the whole set up. What the band was singing about also played the part of the grunge
In 1969 a rock festival emerged in the sea of concerts that went by the name of Woodstock. Posters advertised that the festival would be “three days of peace and music” on August 15-17. From the very beginning people said it was like The Woodstock Festival was cursed. The planners couldn’t find a venue, because no one wanted thousands of young people on their property unsupervised. Finally they found a six-hundred-acre dairy farm in Bethel, New York that allowed them to have the festival on their property. As the planners began to set up the event they estimated no more than 200,000 young people would show and only about 186,000 advance tickets were sold by the time the event came around. ... alternative rock band and religious. I consider myself to be an outsider to alternative rock music culture. I listened to alternative rock music in the past when I was a child, when I believe it was more popular. I used to listen to Paramore back in 2005 when they just started releasing music. Know I listen to hip-hop and rap music which is the most popular music today. I am not completely an outsider though because I still listen to some current rock music and I still listen to the old music that I liked when I was a child. I believe I still understand and am up to date on what is going on in this music culture. Paramore’s is currently on The Self-Titled Tour traveling all over the world showing their identity to the rest of the world. Paramore has transferred from a struggling band to a successful alternative rock band that includes their religion in their band.
The Doors were known for their style of rebellious, psychedelic rock. Their music is poetry (written by Jim Morrison) set to music. Morrison also had many books published just of his poetry. Although not all of The Doors music was written by Morrison, ninety percent of it was. The band was considered a guru by the youngsters of the sixties, and a scourge by the public. The band seemed to fuse music, drugs, and idealism as a way to reform and even redeem a troubled society (Gilmore 34). They were much like the other bands that were emerging in the sixties, but different in one major way.
Metallica started from nothing and became the most unpredictable, unique, recognizable band today. Metallica will always sit on the throne of the Metal world in my eyes. Kirk Hammetts memorizing solos will always be played with my air guitar. Hetfields lyrics will be forever replaying in my head. Bassist Rob, Cliff, and Jason will be in the back of my mind when I am playing guitar to help keep my rhythm. Also, as I am sitting in a classroom in my chair, Lars Ulrichs signature double bass pedal will be played by my feet. The next time one is on the radio and happened to hear the words “EXIT LIGHT, ENTER LIGHT” put the volume on max and just jam out as if there is no tomorrow.
Throughout their career, Coldplay have continued to develop their sound whilst staying grounded and in touch with the world around them. Over almost the past two decades Coldplay has been taking the world by storm with their music reaching all corners of the world, Coldplay have a very diverse range of fans and followers aiding in their ever-increasing involvement in issues affecting a broad majority of the world. Though their journey to fame was a relatively slow burn, Coldplays flare for entertaining, passion for performance, ongoing release of music and constant charity work has kept them in the publics’ line of sight for over 18 years. After 15 minutes people were starting to get frustrated because nothing was happening. It is a good thing. Suddenly there was activity onstage and the lights dimmed. the first support band, Slam Cartel, came on. The mosh pit went wild.
I had never really been to a big concert that had a well-known band. A couple of weeks before the concert I got some information about it, but really didn't think much of it. I talked with some friends about the band and we all casually decided to go get tickets for it. Little did I know what an absolutely spectacular time I would have.
After the show had ended, I felt slightly empty. I had waited years and months for that night, and it was over in the blink of an eye. Although I was sad that the show was over, I felt completely content. Now, when I hear their songs, I get to remember what it felt like to hear the band perform them live. I can watch the videos and try to wrap my mind around how it was real. Going to my first concert was an unparalleled experience that I will always cherish.
