I could write about millions of thing to you, but I would really like to tell you all about my summer break. Don’t get me wrong it was an amazing summer in all but, I just wish I had a little more time with my dad, and a little less time with work. My dad’s been in the navy for about fifteen years, I do believe. He’s been stationed in Maine, Louisiana, Ohio, and now, The Golden State, California. Having two jobs, Zoup, and Lifeguarding, makes it hard to manage time for friends, and family, but of course I tried my best. For Lifeguarding I averaged a forty hour work week, for Zoup I averaged ten hours a week. It was great having a mix of the two jobs, and having different experiences every day, but fifty hour work weeks really did tend to drain …show more content…
I still work there to this day, it’s different at Middleburg Heights because it’s much more organized with the way they do things around there …show more content…
We started our travels down in Columbus Ohio. The week leading up to the big move we spent at Deer Creek State park, for a family reunion, where my dad and step mom, had the chance to see everyone again, before the journey began. Over all we had taken nine days to get to our destination. First stop, Saint Louis, Missouri, we stopped to see the Gateway Arch. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be, so of course I was pretty amazed. The first few days were our longest driving days, but sense we broke up the days, our longest day was eight hours. The second day was the worst, Oklahoma is so boring to drive through, and nothing but flat crop farms, and wind turbines everywhere you look. We drove till we got about seventy five miles from the boarder of New Mexico, And Oklahoma. We got up early and began a shorter dive to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where we went to Petroglyph National Monument, yeah it was interesting, but after you see a few hundred, they all start to look the same. The next morning we took a beautiful hike and took many pictures to capture the moment. Other than getting there, my favorite part of the trip, was Arizona, where we stayed four days in Flagstaff, one day in Holbrook, and one day in Phoenix. I wouldn’t mind if I lived in Arizona, it’s a very beautiful state. My family and I stopped by the Petrified Forest National Park, and I
I am sure almost all of you have either been to or heard of SeaWorld. Today I am going to tell you about what they do to their orcas that they are trying to hide. I chose this topic after watching a documentary called “Blackfish” that goes into the behind the scenes of how SeaWorld treats its animals. I have since done further research online to prepare for this presentation. This is an important topic because you should know what kind of company you are funding and behaviors you are endorsing when you go on your vacations to this destination. Today I am going to persuade you that SeaWorld is corrupt and maltreats its animals, specifically the orcas. First, I will talk about the specific way the orcas are treated and how it affects them
Could you imagine traveling the United States in just your specially made camper and the only company you have is your pet? John Steinbeck, the author of "Travels with Charley" wrote about his 1960's road trip about visiting multiple states. "What are Americans like today?"; that was the question that started his journey. His travels began in Long Island, New York, then he followed the outer border of the United States; from Maine to the Northwest. After he traveled to the Pacific Northwest, he went to Salinas Valley in California then across Texas, and through the Deep South. Finally after that 10,000 mile journey, he made is back safe and sound to New York. This rough and long trip included: meeting new people, exploring, and visiting different states.
You are a 200-year-old endangered Hawksbill Sea Turtle twisting yourself into a foreign knot. Thrashing for freedom, panic sets in as your realise you are helpless in your bending cage. The ocean turns from turquoise green to Prussian blue as the sun slowly pierces the shadows of your watery grave. Bubbles rush from your mouth like stolen phantoms as you begin to contemplate your own mortality. Slowly suffocating, hope begins to fade. Deeper and deeper you sink into unconsciousness. Euphoria sets in as your panic begins to ease, in your mind you remember freedom, just a memory but not so long ago, is this death? Is this a good death? You take one last breath, and let go of
Two state I have never visited is Hawaii and alaska. However, my goal is to visit each of these states within the next 2 years.
Oklahoma. Not only did I get to hear about the places I wanted to go visit, but now I
When we arrived in Texas, we had to drive all the way to Austin in order for us to get to my grandfathers hotel. When we got there and I saw the hotel, I thought to myself that it was the most beautiful hotel in the world. It had color stained windows and when the sun shined through them, you could see a rainbow. The hotel looked like a catholic church with all of the breathtaking colors. My grandfather said that he loved living there because it made him feel rich.
We don’t know a whole lot about Whale sharks reproductive state. We don’t know there breeding season and we don’t know the breeding interval, but we do know a few things. Whale sharks breed sexually with a range of 300 offsprings. With this information scientist believe the the female stores the male's sperm so it can fertilize an entire litter.Whale sharks take care of her baby's until she gives birth to the. After that like all sharks she doesn't take care of them
Imagine a ten year old innocent girl, her parents whom she dearly loved slaughtered in front of her, her siblings being sold into prostitution, slavery or to guerrilla forces as child soldiers. Rape, theft, murder, genocides and other injustice doing is her daily “playground”. Now stop imaging, the common American seems to be oblivious to current events going on worldwide, because such girls exist in war torn places such as Iraq, Syria and Democratic Republic of Congo. If Conscription, the practice of ordering people by law to serve the armed forces were enforced then we might not have to let ten year old girls endure such hardship. Conscription is being used in countries like Switzerland, Austria and Finland, their citizens will never have
For Beach Party and Adrenaline Rush, I was wondering how will you be putting up the tent? For example, will you be using water barrels or putting them in the ground. Additionally for the electric requirement, 2 separate 15 amp breaker plugs(110) will all be you needing for each event?
[Transition: Let’s start by examining the cost benefits of exploring the ocean instead of outer space]
Have you ever had those moments where you are feeling unmotivated or zero energy to workout? I will be the first to tell you I have had these moments. Being involved in the fitness world, I love every aspect of fitness. For the past 5 years, I was working out 5 days a week and had my ups and downs with results. I am guilty of it, I would pick up a workout magazine and try out this crazy workout and just destroy my body. Sure, I saw some results but I was becoming more and more tired throughout the day. On top of that, I was only getting 5 hours of sleep and not eating appropriately to refuel my body. I know stupid right? I am human and I am not perfect!
I: Have you ever wondered how to mend all the things that are wrong in the world and make them right? Have you ever felt that things need to be changed?
What is life skill? Well, life skills are skills that prepare an individual to live independently and productively within society. As an African American, to me, the world is not black or white, with shades of gray. The world to me consists of colored or white and anything colored is unacceptable or associated with something unacceptable. I was never born with a silver spoon in my mouth, but instead, my ancestors were the ones who polished the spoons. As a matter fact, if accused of stealing silver, they would be punished immediately without question, without a proper investigation, and without a fair trial. Now in the present day in America, colored people are now given proper investigations and even if the evidence is leaning their way, colored people are still being punished for crimes that they are probably innocent of. Now in the present day in America, a white person who murders a colored person may roam the
One of the most enjoyable things in life are road trips, particularly to the Colorado mountains. Getting to spend time with your family and friends, while being in a beautiful place, is irreplaceable. The fifteen-hour road trip may feel never-ending, but gazing at the mountains from afar makes life’s problems seem a little smaller and causes worries to become a thing of the past. Coming in contact with nature, untouched, is a surreal experience. My family trip to the Colorado mountains last summer was inspiring.
