Every kid believes that a man and women should be together because that’s how they were raised. That’s the same thing I thought when I was a kid until my cousin started dating a woman. I was excited because I wasn’t the only lesbian in the family. I was so relieved that I told her about me liking girls and she completely understood me and didn’t judge me like some people would. She gave me advice on telling my parents, but when I built up the courage to do it, they disowned my cousin for liking the same-sex. That made me second guess my decision about telling them. I didn’t want to be disowned, kicked out, or unloved. My parents are really big on church and the bible. I just wish they understood same-sex couples should be able to get married just as heterosexual couples.
When you think of the word marriage, most believe it is a union between a man and a woman. However, I see marriage as a vow of happiness between two people no matter what their sexuality is. Marriage is a human right, it should not be denied to any person. Whenever one violates the moral order established by God, they sin and “offend” God. And if you are a good Christian you should abide by it. If two people can be just as happy as a man and a woman why can’t they deserve the same right? Times are changing and the world is becoming more open to same-sex marriage, it is possible to be gay, and still believe in god. In the bible it says “The Lord rained down sulphurous fire upon Sodom and Gomorrah. He overthrew those cities and the whole plain, together with the inhabitants of the cities and the produce of the soil” (Gen. 19:24-25). Religion is a tough subject and it really depends on the person, you can believe in god and not same-sex marriage or be the opposite and discriminate to same-sex
