Dear Big Bang Theory producers and writers, I would like to address the problem of safe sex practices in your show, as I have never seen anything of that matter discussed. I have watched your show for over a year now and as a teenager I feel it is crucial to send a positive safe sex message to other’s watching your show. People ages 15-24 account for nearly half of the new cases of STIs every year and according to vulture magazine your show is number one in teens ages 12-17 and adults ages 18-34. This demographic makes it important to spread a message about safe sex to those viewers, as it could help save lives by preventing unwanted pregnancies and spread of STIs. I believe showing footage of a type of protection or even a conversation characters have about safe sex could have a positive impact on teenagers watching your show. Teenagers are subject to be influenced by what material you put on the show and your negligence to include safe sexual practises leads teenagers to believe that there is no consequence in having sexual intercourse without a condom when in fact, there are major consequences.
