If someone brutally beat and killed one of your family members, would you want them sentenced to death? In the United States, the death penalty is legal in 31 states, while illegal in 19. This topic is universally controversial and generally debated upon. Different forms of execution are performed throughout all including Electrocution, Lethal injection, Gas inhalation, and hanging in Washington. As of 2018, the death penalty continues to be enforced and should stay that way as long as the crime can be proven as a form of purposeful homicide!
Since 1976, there has been reported just over 8000 people sentenced to death in the United States. While there have been many sentence to death who were eventually found to be innocent, there have been much more who should have but was never pursued. From 315 in the year of 1996, to 31 in 2016, we’ve come a long way in the past couple decades, but is that exactly a good thing? Human moral knows what is right from wrong, and those who chose to commit to the crime are deserving of only the highest form of prosecution.
