Education is a huge topic of controversy, society is always trying to reform what we know as education today. Right now, the first 12 years of education are entirely free for students directly, but in the end are paid for by the taxpayers of the town. The question is, why should only grades k-12 be free why not a college education too? On the other hand, there are some exceptions to free schooling at the k-12 levels. The most prominent being, Private schooling, most towns in the United States have at least one if not many private schools. They require a certain amount in tuition for each of its students every year. An example of this, in my town Salem, NH one of the most known private catholic schools is St. Joseph 's. I do not agree with the bill that would require a person to earn a high school diploma before he or she can receive their driver's license. In high school, a lot of teens parents are not reliable enough to take them back and forth to school every day. If the teen lives far from the high school it makes it even harder for them to find a way to school. The two years between sixteen and eighteen give the teen time to learn driving skills and become better at driving. If they cannot get it till they are eighteen now it is the cause of a mistake they have made in early driving so they should not get it till then anyway.
Throughout the years, I hardly believed in my capabilities in school and in achieving my ambitions. You see I am not one of those cool kids who blatantly don’t want to do anything, in fact, I was worse. When opportunities decides to knock on my doorstep, I simply decline hoping that luck doesn’t go my way. It is because I was afraid to change my status which I was already comfortable with my life. Now that I am more educated I’m seeing a different point of view, a different view of living, which is achieving great things in life and surpassing anything that may come my way. In my path towards a higher education I have passed obstacles such as injury, problems with self-esteem, and transportation.
First of all, many high school graduates cannot handle college. Isabel V. Sawhill and Stephanie Owen describe college as a place, “one can obtain a traditional four-year bachelor’s degree”. The work load outside of the classroom could be compared to working a full time job. For example, if a student is enrolled in four college courses and is in class a minimum of four hours the student should spend at least four to six hours of studying. This may be extremely agitating and stressful to a student that is not good at studying. The new college student may realize that the schoolwork is too much for him to handle and instead drop out. There exist students who are not yet ready for the academic and financial challenges of college. Receiving a high school and college education is a great privilege to a lot of people in the United States. For many Americans, attending college can be a great hurdle to surpass in comparison to attending high school. This is because college is more academically rigorous and costly than high school. However, despite college being a great way to advance academically and professionally, it is understandable why many people choose not to continue their education after graduating from high school.

Not being able to go to college is one reason why students’ shouldn’t drop out of high school. If you want a job that requires a bachelor or master’s degree you have to go to college to get. For example; if you wanted to be a Lawyer or school teacher or a business owner you would have to pass your GED test or make the choice to finish high school (“High School Dropouts”). If you still want go to college but you drop out you have to pass your GED test to go to college. If students’ would finish high school it would be a lot easier with a diploma than trying to get your GED to go to college, because if you finish high school with a diploma and don’t have to worry about taking any test to go to college. But if you don’t pass then you can’t do anything college related.

It is 2am and you wish you had more time for sleeping. You have had a long day between school and work. Probably tired and overwhelm of all the homework that you have to turn in this week. Sometimes you may ask your self the question, “Is it worth the effort I am making to go to college?” I am sure that some of you have had those days were you wish you can stay at home watching TV, playing video games, sleeping, and not worrying about studying for a test. Schools can give responsibility to students but never without a cost. Students should have to chance to prove their worth to schools and show how responsible they can be as adults. When students go to college classes as high schoolers they sometimes tend to have more free time during those times. If a child has enough responsibility to take those classes they should have enough to leave school and be trusted to come back to school after their free time is over. Although leaving school early is not something that is smiled upon it should be because some students are ahead and can work their schedule to allow extra time because of hard work in early years.
