This new technology can benefit families in the prevention of many genetic diseases, but the applied science can also create terrible problems across the world such as overpopulation, due to the disappearance of these disorders, and a single, master race due to the accessible selection of preferred traits in the lab. With being given the opportunity to produce your offspring in the lab, you are able to rid your child off harmful, life inflicting diseases that can cause a great deal of suffering. In addition to what was previously stated, another believed that, "The most promising benefit of human genetic engineering is gene therapy. Eventually the hope is to completely eliminate certain genetic diseases as well as treat non-genetic diseases with an appropriate gene therapy” (“Benefits of Human Genetic Engineering”). One of the biggest issues today are disease induced deaths. Many children acquire fatal diseases that they do not deserve to have at that young an age. With the help of genetic engineering, we are able to prevent all young children from acquiring these deadly illnesses. However, preventing all these diseases will cause a significantly drastic increase in population. The residents will increase by millions, and the only deaths will be from old age and murders. In result, cities, suburbs, and rural areas will all be the same. Everywhere throughout the globe will be flooded with homes and supermarkets in response to the dramatic increase in citizens.
