Ledges, park benches, tables and many man made structures that you see in your everyday lives are used by people everyday, but very rarely in the same way that a skateboarder does. All over the world, skateboarders are kicked out of rural areas by law enforcement's and property owners just because of the fact that they are skating. Not destroying property or behaving badly; they are just there for their pure purpose to have a good time and learn new tricks, but there can still be a big amount of people that do not respect property, which doesn't help the problem skateboarders see today while they are blamed for destruction even if it isn't caused by them.. This problem has been going on for over a decade, since skateboards were first created and it seems like no one is on their side, and a skater never has a chance to tell their side of the story. Should law enforcement's ban skating in certain areas or should skaters be allowed to skate there anyways? With the world against them all, it is very difficult to make reason against others that their actions is nothing different than people playing a sport.
There's many different skate spots around the world, from the birthplace of skateboarding; Huntington Beach, California, where in the early 1990, the ban of street skating occurred, and Cape May, New Jersey’s recent attempts to cite anyone possessing or carrying a skateboard on city-owned land, the culture of skateboarding has come under fire in numerous cities (Nemeth). In recent years, a famous area for political rallies located in Philadelphia, previously known as John F. Kennedy Plaza, now called Love Park got some serious attention from skateboarders.
