Having you ever wanted to go to another planet, or travel the world? Scuba diving is a lot like that and is nothing like anything else on earth. Diving into the water, as your submerge underneath currents, millions of colorful fish flow into your face. This experience is what attracts people to look further into the diving and go and try it for themselves. Scuba Diving is an amazing pastime but it does come with a lot of dangers to lookout for and work to prevent. Just a few of the many dangers are Barotrauma, Nitrogen Narcosis, and of course, sea life. All of these things can be stopped from happening by taking the proper precautions and being aware. Although sea life isnt the #1 cause of death or injury during this sport, it's still something to be aware of. Sea life is just like anything else in this world- if you mess with it, it will mess with you. Therefore, it's always a good idea to stay distant and if you do decide to come close, just be kind! The most important thing is to stay away from feeding the wild life. The danger of wildlife in the ocean while scuba diving is almost nonexistent but as soon as you feed them, that danger increases a bunch (Scuba DIver Life). Although its rare, animals usually only strike when being fed a first time, but not a second. Feeding sharks, eels, and other potentially aggressive sea creatures is never smart; and altering the natural behavior of any creature is not a good idea (Scuba Diver Life). The most dangerous ocean animal to look out for is something that is quite easy to stay away from, the coral. It does not attack or move, but it is extremely painful and and be poisonous. It is also one of the USs most protected animal and can easily get sick and die. “Even the gentlest touch of a diver's fin or hand may kill delicate coral polyps. Sharks have also been subjected to medical research, games and competitions, jewellery, souvenirs and cosmetics. We need to take into consideration that sharks play a vital role in the natural world that we live in. it is imperative that we look after these majestic creatures and ensure they remain protected. We need to be aware of the dangers of sharks, swim in protected areas where there are shark nets, and do not swim after dark in the sea (especially not alone) as the sea is the sharks home. Humans should also be wearing wet suits as protection in the ocean. The sea is where they live, they swim freely and they eat – they do not particularly target humans but rather prey on food that is available to them in their habitat.
These past few summers I have been spending a lot more time in the water, whether it be jet skiing in Vietnam or kayaking in the waters of Florida, I have enjoyed every minute of it all. I always like watching surfers out in the waves and because of how great they make it look, I want to give it a try. Hence the reason why it is on my bucket list. Prior to surfing, there are many things I will need to gain knowledge on such as the gear, dangers, precautions, and much more. In order for me to check it off my bucket list, I will need to procure all of this information. Surfing is not just all fun and games, it is a serious sport, and to really enjoy it, I have to make sure that I am doing it right.

In February of 2010, a woman named Dawn Brancheau died while working as an animal trainer at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida. There has been a large amount of debate about the circumstances surrounding her death—some say she slipped and fell, while others say that she was dragged in by one of the orcas, Tilikum. The controversy over her tragic death brought this question to the surface: should parks like SeaWorld be closed down for safety reasons? While this argument has been going on for a long time, the death of Brancheau spurred a wave of debates about whether the park should be allowed to remain open. On one side, people believe the parks should be shut down and the animals should be released from captivity in an effort to protect the animals and the humans. On the other side of the argument, people believe the parks should be kept open because of the benefits they offer to the world in education and conservation. In light of SeaWorld’s recent transitions, I believe the park should remain open to the public.
Earth, an endless source of wonder and beauty, produced the Great Barrier Reef. Hustling and bustling, the Reef thrives like a busy city, teeming with life. Sheltering thousands, corals, maintain the well-being of the Reef; however, the world threatens its nature and delicacy. Populations growing and technological advances increasing, the world becomes more and more disconnected with the natural world, posing an alarming risk for the planet we live on. Although many organizations try to keep the oceans clean, because of human interference and unnatural occurrences, the Great Barrier Reef needs scientific help to adapt corals to new conditions for means of survival, putting pressure on the Australian government to save their ocean environment.
It all began with good intentions. People thinking that they can control these animals and not expect any negative impacts. It was all due to wanting to explore and entertain with the animals. However, not all animals are meant to be taken from the wild to be show animals. After many years of unfair ways, SeaWorld is doing the right thing by closing down the whale exhibit even if it isn’t by choice because it is unhealthy for both the humans and animals involved.

Diving has gotten away from the stereotype based on the early days of diving, that it is a rough and tough sport requiring extreme endurance and strength. Today it is viewed as an activity done by both men and women and even children. While diving is promoted as a leisure sport, it is still a sport. One that takes an amount of physical activity. We start by carrying heavy tanks on our backs. We are in constant motion for the entire dive. Even breathing is a more difficult as we must overcome the additional pressure on our body as we expand our chest.
Even though humans get injured and occasionally killed by sharks, this is much more uncommon than many people think. In the video, "Great White Predator," it states, "[Sharks] mainly eat one thing: seals," (“National Geographic”). Shark attacks are much less likely to occur than people may think. In fact, Peter Benchley says, "Around the world many, many more people die every year from bee stings, snakebites, falling off ladders, or drowning in bathtubs than from shark attack[s]," (“Great White Sharks”). People have a greater chance of dying while doing everyday chores than from sharks.
Throughout this essay we have had a chance to look at the two major types of underwater diving. We have a better understanding of the differences in the equipment used, the locations that each may be performed, and the career opportunities available to a person with the proper credentials.

Man has always been curious about the underwater world and has sought to explore it. This drove man to come up with new ways to extend his reach into the underwater world and to make the trip less difficult. Over time underwater exploration has been made easier due to man’s passion for exploring a fascinating new underwater world. Inventions such as regulators, self-contained breathing apparatuses, oxygen tanks, neoprene suits, and many more technologies have been used to make underwater exploration as easy and efficient as possible. Scuba diving has evolved into a wide range of advanced technology for the average person to explore a whole new underwater world.

Devastating news that this colossal ship everyone thought was indestructible had sunk from a collision with an iceberg. But the question is, could the terrible tragedy have been stopped? Why did the Titanic give so easily following the hit?
