The very controversial issue of prostitution is one that has been a reoccurring problem all over the world for centuries. Prostitution is something that needs to be worked on in order to be resolved. Women are not given the same opportunities as men but are instead dragged into or kidnapped into prostitution rings/cartels. Prostitution should be illegal however there needs to be a more in depth focus on women’s rights towards their bodies, sex trafficking, and the transmission of HIV and aids through prostitution. Women choosing to sleep with large amounts of men and women does not classify as them being a prostitute, women can enjoy intercourse, the female body is a temple and women can do as they want with their temple. Women are losing the ability to live, and to be successful because they are kidnapped at young ages and used as bait and goods to be sold to the highest bidding customer. “Issues of public policy, mental, sexual, and reproductive health, identity configuration and violence are all addressed in relation to prostitution/sex work and sex trafficking” (Vega p 1006). Sex trafficking and being forced into prostitution is affecting women in an immense number of ways. Women are kept from being with their families, and having families because they are kidnapped and taken to prostitution rings/cartels. Women deserve a better and more equal chance to be successful and to thrive in this world. Being taken away from their families and being forced to do something is not the way to do that. It is an unfair and uneven playing field.
