The very controversial issue of prostitution is one that has been a reoccurring problem all over the world for centuries. Prostitution is something that needs to be worked on in order to be resolved. Women are not given the same opportunities as men but are instead dragged into or kidnapped into prostitution rings/cartels. Prostitution should be illegal however there needs to be a more in depth focus on women’s rights towards their bodies, sex trafficking, and the transmission of HIV and aids through prostitution. Women are losing the ability to live, and to be successful because they are kidnapped at young ages and used as bait and goods to be sold to the highest bidding customer. “Issues of public policy, mental, sexual, and reproductive health, identity configuration and violence are all addressed in relation to prostitution/sex work and sex trafficking” (Vega p 1006). Sex trafficking and being forced into prostitution is affecting women in an immense number of ways. Prostitution is one of the oldest professions in history. In this modern age there are several classes of prostitutes with several methods of finding work, but they still face violence in their business. Though prostitutes are frowned upon by society and treated as criminals, under the law they should not be scrutinized by the morals of the people. Prostitutes frequently feel they have no options due to their illegal work, should they be assaulted they cannot turn to the police since many officers refuse to aid them as criminals. Prostitution should be regulated to fight human trafficking, increase quality of life for the women working in the industry, and generate taxes for the government while reducing the cost of dealing with prostitution.
In conclusion, while the world is trying to band together to stop world crises, we are failing drastically. What we need is hope, with the money brought in from human trafficking hope can be gained. This proposal solves the problems of the world on an astronomical scale. There will be no such thing as unemployment if we take a stand and send this in motion. The sex trade opens many jobs, products, and consumers to pay for their services. This proposal is not for the personal gain for a human, but the bettering of our people, society, government, and to pimp our economical growth and state. There are many reasons why prostitution is illegal some do make sense on why it is illegal. That still doesn’t mean that the government can tell us what to do with our life choices. A reason why it is illegal is because of homicide. How this works is by the customer promising a big load of cash. Then when they are done he or she does not pay and then kills the prostitute. Unfortunately, sometimes it could be the customer that gets killed just like what Aileen Wuornos did. Aileen Wuornos was a former prostitute that found a way to make easy money without having sex. Instead of having sex with the customer she would kill them and take their money. From her crime that she committed I can understand why it is illegal. The only problem with that not everyone wants to have sexual intercourse with a prostitute. It is basically like doing drugs or drinking underage or not there are people who want to do it then there are people who chose not to do it. In order to understand how sex trafficking affects its victims, one must first know the severity of sex trafficking and what it is. The issue of sex trafficking affects 2.5 million people at any given time (Abas et al., 2013). The form of sex slavery affects many women and children across the world. Even though both males and females are sexually trafficked and exploited, there is a deep emphasis on the sexual exploitation of women and children. This is due to gender discrimination (Miller, 2006). This is because women and children are more vulnerable and appeal to the larger populations of brothels and the so-called “clients” since the majority are men. Ecclestone (2013) stated that children as young as age three are trafficked. Sex trafficking has changed over time; “Today, the business of human sex trafficking is much more organized and violent. These women and young girls are sold to traffickers, locked up in rooms or brothels for weeks or months, drugged, terrorized, and raped repeatedly” (Walker-Rodriguez & Hill, 2011). It is found that many of the victims of sex trafficking are abducted, recruited, transported and forced into involuntary “sex work”. These sexual acts include prostitution, exotic dancing, pornography, and sexual escort services (McClain & Garrity, 2011). What happens to these sex trafficking victims is extremely traumatizing.

Here’s my argument, I believe that these woman are not immoral for choosing to be prostitutes because they have every right to do what they please with their own bodies. The right to one’s own body means that,” you have the sole ownership and control over your own body and all processes therein.” More specifically, it means that everyone has full control over his or her own body and this control precedes all kinds of authority. When a woman chooses to have sex for money she is doing just this, she is controlling her body and choosing to use it for prostitution.
