I’ve always been good at talking to people, I was a social butterfly as a kid. I can get along well with others if I want to, and can carry a conversation. When need be, I can be persuasive, mostly through logic. I state facts and tell you why I believe you should do this or that based on those facts, and that method seems to work well on a lot of people. I’ve always thought a career where I could use these skills would work to my advantage, but I never gave it serious consideration. I want to be able to use my social skills, quick thinking, adaptability, self-reliance, and combination of common sense & “book smartness” throughout my life and do something that will make me happy. Although I stay to myself and really value alone time, I really enjoy being with small groups of people. Once I’m with a small group of people, you can find me leading the conversation or being someone who speaks the most. My personality type is ISTP, which I think all of those criteria fit well into a real-estate agent. Introverts think a lot, meaning they’re going to go over a lot of different options. Sensing people are more concrete than abstract, and pay attention to details. Thinking people rely on objective criteria more than personal values. There isn’t a specific major for real-estate, but there are many that are helpful getting into the field: business administration, finance, economics, etc. I’m likely to go towards business administration, because if this career didn’t pan out then I would have more options to fall back on with that degree. I plan to earn my associates degree in business administration and leave Jefferson by the fall semester of 2020. I want to take things slow and probably work a lot while earning my degree, so I can have plenty of money saved before I leave Jefferson. I plan on transferring to a university (undecided as of right now) to major in business administration while also earning my real-estate license. Many universities, if not most, offer a business administration major, or a MBA (master of business administration). I will start slowly, not having to worry about money from what I saved before transferring. I’ll be making money by the time I graduate and can dive into the field. Having a degree will also give me an advantage, because there are going to be other people in the field who don’t have as much education as I do and employers will likely give the position to the person with more education if stuck between two
