The question of marijuana being legalized for medical purposes has been a very big issue for quite a long time. The so called “drug,“ has been controversial for many reasons of the bad track record it has had over the past few years. Marijuana is thought to be a schedule one drug. The term “schedule one drug,” means it has a high potential for abuse. Marijuana lacks an acceptance for legal medical use, is unsafe for use under medical supervision, is under the controlled substance act. Many high ranked people in the offices in D.C. are trying to change the drug to a scheduled two drug. By doing that, it would change the law so that it can be prescribed legally. A couple of things that marijuana can treat is eye disease glaucoma, it increases pressure in the eyeball, damaging the optic nerve; and causing loss of the vision. Marijuana lowers the pressure inside of the eye. In early 1970’s marijuana, when was smoked, decreased intraocular pressure (IOP) in people with normal pressure also people with glaucoma. Marijuana can possibly reverse the effects of tobacco and improve lung health. It can help control epileptic seizures, the (THC) controls seizures by binding to the brain cells that are responsible for controlling excitability and regulating relaxation. One chemical in the drug can also stop cancer from spreading, cannabidiol stops cancer by stopping a gene called ID-1. The marijuana helps decrease anxiety by relieving pain and suppress nausea. This is not all that this helps, it helps college funds, scholarships, making schools better, and making the surroundings
