Legalizing Marijuana A contemporary issue that I would like to discuss, is the legalization of marijuana for medical use. It is a bit weird that I have a strong opinion on legalizing marijuana, but the purpose why I want to write about it, is not for those who use them incorrectly, but those who need marijuana for medical purpose. Throughout my high school years until now, I have seen many situations when it comes from some individuals that are currently in need of marijuana for medical purpose, unfortunately, there are some several states that haven’t allow a law to be passed. The way I see marijuana having an impact to an individual is if an individual takes marijuana to eliminate their symptoms and once the symptom is clear, then they can feel happy due to the pain have decreased and can improve the unhappiness to happiness. As a matter of fact, Utilitarian claims that “the action is right if the one that produces the most good.” So, if the federal government allowed legalizing marijuana for medical use, then there will be an increase of happiness favoring those who need medical purpose to improve or cure their symptoms. For example, to demonstrate how the happiness can benefit those who needs marijuana as a treatment. Sheryl Shuman was a cancer patient who was obligated to take 27 different pharmaceutical drugs to only help cure partially the cancer. Not until she tried marijuana by only vaporing for 90 days. Within those 90 days of trying marijuana, she said that she was fully healed and was capable to go back to her full-time job and how she wished she would have tried marijuana before.
