“Significant cuts to programs and services were unavoidable. They include a reducing the number of assistant principals, and in some cases, teachers, student support services like counselors and specialists, nurses, afterschool programs, and out­of­town student travel sports events” (Irish). The loss of extracurricular activities is just one of the many things that schools need to cut due to the low educational funding. If funding continues to be cut then Arizona will not have the tools needed in order to give the knowledge they need to succeed in life. Extracurricular activities are a crucial part of school because it shows you are involved into making your school the best it can be, but students can not do so if there is no funding for extracurricular activities. Furthermore, extracurricular activities can help students with their path to college, as many colleges take into consideration these activities when a student applies. Most importantly everyone working in the school are breathing in mildew. This could lead to allergies, asthma, and possibly infections in teachers, students, and maintenance. Schools need to be rebuilt or be fixed in some areas to create, and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment. If the problem is not solved budget cuts will continue and public schools will start shutting down until there’s nothing left but charter schools. This is a huge problem as not everyone will be pleased with this, as parents want their sons and daughters to get a good education. The people that have the power to resolve Arizona’s education funding is the Governor of Arizona Doug Ducey.
