Should we be able to clone extinct animals? The question isn’t can we, it’s should we. No, we shouldn’t. The questions we should consider are “Where were their habitats,” “What caused their extinction,” “When did they become extinct?” Chances are, many of you don’t know the answer to most, if not all, of these questions. So, “Where did these extinct animals live?” According to the article “Should We Be Trying to Bring Extinct Species Back to Life” even if a species was brought back from extinction, it wouldn’t have a place to live.There is a significant chance that the habitat the animal lived in is long gone and maybe even the cause of the extinction in the first place. So if there is no form of nourishment, what are the animals going to eat? This would be a hindrance to the food chain. Not only that, but cloning animals is not a sufficient use of our time. The article, “First Extinct-Animal Clone Created” states that an extinct animal, a Pyrenean ibex, a subspecies of the Spanish ibex, had been brought back to life using cloning for the first time and died minutes after birth. This just goes to show that using technology can result in so many different errors and will just result in a waste of time and money. Now, while we can’t say the exact price of cloning animals as the price depends on many different factors, the price is anywhere around tens of millions of dollars just to clone a few toads according to the article, “The Cost of Resurrecting Extinct Species Could be Devastating.” If these animals that are being cloned are going to die within days of their birth, they aren’t really being resurrected.
