Climate change is something very real in today’s society. People need to be more aware of what is happening to the world around them. CO2 levels are rising, the ice caps are melting and sea levels are rising. The awareness about global warming should rise...not our CO2 levels. According to the graph shown on NASA’s climate change website, our CO2 levels on earth have rose ever since the Industrial Revolution. Multiple greenhouse gases block heat from leaving Earth’s atmosphere. Over the years, the amount of fossil fuels that are burned, have increased greatly. Burning fossil fuels creates these greenhouse gases. The more fossil fuels we burn, the more greenhouse gases that are stuck in our atmosphere. These gases heat up the earth over time as no heat is capable of escaping. …show more content…

In Greenland and Antarctica, the ice caps are melting at alarming rates. Since 2002, Antarctica has lost a lot of land mass...exactly 134 billion metric tons of ice. To make it even worse that number is not from 2002 to 2016...that number is for every year! Greenland has lost close to 287 billion metric tons per year. That is a lot of ice that has melted. As the earth heats up, these ice caps will melt. When the ice melts, our water levels rise. The higher the water levels rise the more dangers flood could pose to those who live on the coasts. Plus, if the ice disappears and the earth becomes extremely warm, what will the polar bears do? They would have nowhere to live, and soon enough would go
