The discussion as to which one is better between breast milk and formula milk for your baby seems to be a settled matter. The breast milk cannot be replaced by any kind of formula. However, what happens when the matter cannot feed the baby? This brings the formula into the picture.
There are a number of health reasons that may make it impossible for the mother to feed the baby, case in point is an HIV Positive mother. In this case, the mother is not allowed to breastfeed the baby.
The other common health conditions and diseases that also discourage the mother to breastfeed the baby include hepatitis, herpes, and the bete-streptococcal infections. These are diseases that can easily be transferred from the mother to baby through the breast milk. …show more content…

Most doctors recommend breast feeding over formulas when possible. One doctor called mothers milk "liquid gold". Another doctor looks at formulas as a distant 2nd to mother’s milk. The reason is that babies benefit greatly from the mother’s milk over formulas for multiple health reasons that go beyond infancy. Immune factors (infection, disease) and brain building factors (DHA, cholesterol) are generally the two distinct health benefits babies receive from being breastfed. Besides being the best nutrition it provides the strongest bonding time between mother and baby.
No formula can compete with the natural diet breast milk offers. Perfectly balanced amounts of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates made especially for human babies. The whole process of pregnancy includes the production of milk for your baby. This is true of all mammals alike.
