Some people view it as murder while others see it as an alternate way of birth control. A popular debate in today’s society concerns whether abortion is the termination of the life of a fetus, or rather a way to terminate a pregnancy. Abortion is a voluntary medical procedure in which the embryo or fetus is removed from the uterus to terminate a pregnancy. The thought of abortion has gotten very popular among young adults over the last few decades and have caused many different opinions to rise, this seems to be caused by the evolution of technology in science making abortion cheaper and much safer. They believe that a fetus has the right to live, and it is not the decision of the mother to take away its life. After conducting research, it seems that pro-life activists are connected with religion, in Canada the activists form a coalition by the catholic churches and stand outside hospitals protesting against abortion. However it’s not only the church groups that are anti-abortion, Leah de Vries from the Windsor Star seem to be against it as well, Leah states, “Some people say that abortions are good but abortions have killed more living organisms than humans in 9-11 and all humans in every U.S. battle.”(deVries, 2013) Unfortunately, this a true, in fact, according to the world health organization they estimate 40-50 million abortions every year worldwide. As we read this paper they are already 34 million abortions in the current year of 2016, this number is referred by the “worldometer” website that uses statistical data by well-known organizations. Another unfortunate fact is “that 25% of all pregnancies now end in abortion” (Hanbury, 2016) from the Relevant Magazine, which is one in four pregnancies. But how does this have an impact in society? Basing of social mores, pro-life individuals believe that abortion is murder, in society they are many other options that are more moral than abortion, such as adoption.
