INTRODUCTION: 7.125 billion people in the world. Living in 195 sovereign nations. Each with their citizens own best interests and desires in mind. The current refugee crisis has shed light onto the debate of a government’s right to control its borders over its obligation to provide a safe haven for refugees. The global community faces the important and essential task of assisting refugees, but not forcibly imposing refugees on a nation which can compromise national interests. In order to sustain a nation, a strong system of sovereign states becomes essential. Maintaining that bond is essential to the sustainability of these nations. States have a duty to protect and support their own best interests first, and there is no international body with a right to interfere with those interests. Kept …show more content…

An essential part to helping relieve the strain of the refugee crisis is other countries contributing economically towards funding refugee camps, as in providing funds for their basic and essential needs- food, water, clothing, and medical supplies in particular. States can provide help in other ways if they can not provide asylum for refugees. Since a majority of refugees time is spent in their camps, financial aid given to improve their conditions would surely help out their living situation. Another example of how financial aid can come into play deals with the solution of assisting refugees return to their home territories. Because of the lack of safety within their states, refugees stem from conflicts and run from their homes. The homes of thousands of refugees have been destroyed due to large scale attacks, specifically bombings, in the streets of their communities. To most, going home is not an option, if we can reduce the risks of conflicts, and assisted them in their efforts to rebuild, then the refugees could be resettled into their home
