Dear President Obama, As a freshman in high school the thought of anyone my age getting an abortion is frightening. I can’t imagine killing an unborn baby that has no say in whether they live or die. The fact that teenagers my age have to make these painful decisions is upsetting. Having to make that decision at such a young age is frightening, because I don’t even think it’s a decision. Some women who are uneducated about their options think that abortion is the only answers if they don’t want/can’t keep their baby. That’s why I think teens, and everyone in general, should be educated about their options. I believe it is very important for teenagers to be educated about sex and the consequences that could follow. My school has speakers that come in a talk to us about subject once a year, but some schools don’t have any education about this. If kids don’t know how to protect themselves, and don’t know what their options are, then they may end up getting pregnant and possibly having an abortion. If we can get it so every school has at least one time a year where they get taught ab...
We all want what’s best for our teens, and sometimes, the hardest part is deciding what is best. We could teach our children that sex is a very special thing that should be saved for marriage, and leave it at that. We wouldn’t inspire any crazy ideas or experimentation, we would tell them the risks and then they would know why sex before marriage is a bad idea. Or, we could tell them how to protect themselves from the risk of sex, it wouldn’t strictly teach teens to abstain from sex, but they would know how to protect themselves if they did try to experiment. For years, teens have been taught that the only way to avoid the dangers of sex is to not have it and that just hasn’t been working out. Therefore, abstinence-only education shouldn’t be taught in schools.
How would you feel if someone took away your ability to live? How would you feel if you were never given the chance to come into the world and contribute to the human race? These are some of the questions an individual needs to ask when considering having abortion. Abortion, in my opinion, is immoral and unjust simply because it is murder. A brutal murder of a being who has not even seen the world and a huge injustice to a helpless fetus who might have been the next Einstein, President, or the person who would find a cure to cancer. Morality says that every person has the right not to be unjustly killed. Hence, this right also apply to any unborn child. The thought of an individual killing his/her own unborn child is always lurking in the back of my mind because it’s hard to assert the harm being caused by the unborn child to the mother or to the society in general. If we say abortion is morally right, then we are against procreation and procreation is one of the major contributions of a human being to his or her society and the world at large. The act of procreation is one of the most beautiful things in the world. To make a human being, being able to watch that kid grow into an adult and actually be responsible to the society, should be a very fulfilling experience for any mother. I hereby oppose the principle of paternalism because I don’t believe it is moral to take away or destroy the life of an unborn child to save the life of the mother because there is no harm caused by the unborn child but I support the harm principle because abortion in general, causes harm to the unborn child, his future, the mother and the society. Therefore, I subscribe to Don Marquis view on Abortion in his article “Why abortion is immoral”.
Giving birth is often looked upon as a miracle of life with remarkable experiences to come. However, others may think this miracle of life will be nothing but problems in their lives. Many females who are not ready for a baby seek abortion as the answer of their problems. Abortion is known to be one of the most debated issues in society. It is best defined as a “medical procedure used to end a pregnancy and cause the death of the fetus” (“Merriam-Webster 's Learner 's Dictionary”). Regardless, if a woman becomes unexpectedly pregnant and is not mentally or financially stable to take care of a baby, abortion is still not the answer. The procedures for abortion is unhealthy for the female, is murder of the fetus, and goes against the 14th Amendment.
Lauren got pregnant when she was in senior year with her boyfriend of two years. All her friends told her the preeminent option was abortion so she could carry on with her life and get a fresh start. She had no idea what she was gonna do. She had stringent parents who would not be thrilled about her recent choices. Lauren finally decided to keep the baby and let the baby live the life she created. Her and her boyfriend stayed together for twenty two years after that and they had two more beautiful children they could not be prouder of. The baby she decided to keep is now in the military and protects this country everyday. If it was not for Lauren keeping the child this country would not have that one military soldier fighting for what we want.
Abortion is one of the most controversial topic in the United States at the moment. Abortion is defined as the deliberate termination of a pregnancy, usually before the embryo or fetus is capable of independent life. Pro-life supporters believe that abortion is murder and No one should be able to decide whether who lives or dies. While pro- choice supporters believe that a woman has the choice on whether she want to give birth or not .If a woman is rape; a pro-life supporter believes that abortion is wrong with no exceptions including rape or if the mother’s life is endangered: the child’s right to life outweighs the mother’s right to her body. How can we claim to be the land of freedom, yet our government is constantly restricting abortions laws throughout the United States. Woman should have the freedom to have an abortion without the government interference.
In this state, country, and all over the world, there are a number of controversial topics, and there are always going to be. These topics range from debating on whether to legalize certain drugs, gun control, the death penalty, and the list goes on. One very popular topic that involves potential life and death, and constantly gets debated about is abortion. The topic of whether or not abortion should be legal has been around for years, and it isn’t going away any time soon.
Abortion was legally being done since 1880 in the United States. During that time, many states have started to ban abortion. Even though abortion was illegal in many places, it was still being practiced. Many by licensed physicians. They “risked losing their license to perform the abortions”. Even though abortion was illegal in most states, women all over the United States were getting abortion illegally. Some even performed self-abortions with “hanger and needles”. “Also many women would go to other countries and get an abortion”. Many felt the banning abortions was a way to limit women’s rights which led to many court cases. (ourbodiesourselves.org)
Abortion has been a controversial topic in the U.S ever since it became legal in 1973 after the Roe v. Wade case. Abortion is defined as the, “the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.” Pro-life supporters believe that abortion is unethical and argue that it is the mother’s responsibility to own up to her actions. They also argue that there is always the option of adoption, and that abortion could be very dangerous. I am pro-life and believe that the government doesn’t have the right to decide what a woman can or can’t do with her body.
Women should have the right to decide whether or not they would like to have an abortion. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines abortion as; “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus.” The idea of a woman’s right to have an abortion being taken away is merely incomprehensible.
Having comprehensive sex education in the schools gives teens safe place to discuss these issues in fact it has been shown that. Seeing that some teens are shy about asking the important questions from their parents, and the parents themselves are not always comfortable or brave enough to answer these questions which can be harmful the child. Having this be taught at the schools wil...
First of all, the main reason children have sex prematurely is because they are curious. Students lack knowledge about sex because they haven’t been taught about it, however, when children know the consequences behind their actions and the risks they are taking they less likely to want to have sex. If we take the time to show kids what it is like to take care of a child as a teenager or show them AIDS victims; they may be much less likely to want to indulge in sexual activities. Sex education probably can’t prevent teenage sex, but it can ensure students have the knowledge they need so they’ll be aware of what they are getting themselves into.
Did you know that only ONE percent of women that get abortions are rape victims? Which means the other women who decides to get an abortion just wants to take the easy way out. People will say it is murder, others will object and say it is just a fetus. Millions of babies die everyday without even being born because of abortion. Abortion destroys the lives of helpless people all around the world and is legal in some countries. A Lot of people take advantage of abortion and chooses to abuse it and use it as a birth control method. Abortion should be illegal everywhere, unless a life threatening matter occurs. There have been an increasing number of abortion cases throughout the world.
Abortion is a medical procedure to end a pregnancy. It has become one of the most controversial issues out there. Many people have strong feelings and beliefs for or against it. There are also people on both sides, in my case I am against abortion and for the rest of my life will. Abortion is murder, a killing of an innocent human beings unable to make decisions for themselves. Life begins at conception, and for that reason unborn babies are human beings with the right to live. An unborn baby is capable of feeling pain so they feel an enormous pain during the abortion procedure. In addition, abortion is an extremely dangerous procedure that has many risks. Why would you take away someone’s life when there are many options to
Overall, my point of view is that sexual education should be taught in school. It’s a subject that should not be looked over and should be taught before you go to high school when those things come into play. This is my point of view because boys and girls need to know about their bodies, know about STD’s, and know the different types of methods to prevent pregnancy. Sexual education should be taught regardless. Another important thing that everyone needs to learn are the different ways to stay protected so that you do not end up getting pregnant, or getting a girl pregnant. Instead of having unprotected intercourse they need to either use a condom, or be on some sort of birth control. There are many ways to be able to prevent pregnancy but they also need to know that you are never fully guaranteed that pregnancy won’t occur. They need to be informed
“Forty-one percent of teens ages 18-19 said they know nothing about condoms, and seventy-five percent said they know nothing about the contraceptive pill” (Facts on American Teens). Even if schools taught just abstinence it still would not be enough. “In 2007, a study showed that abstinence only programs have no beneficial impact on the sexual behavior of young people” (Facts on American Teens). Sex education is not taken as seriously as it should be in schools, it is treated like it is not a big deal. Schools should require a sex education class that specifically teaches students about sex and goes into depth of all the possible consequences because of the high pregnancy, abortion, and virus rates.
