Persuasion and Influences The persuasion lie is originally since in the late of 19th century until the early of 20th century. This is because of the rise of the mass media, mass culture, mass society, politics democracy. Propaganda is the origins constructs of the persuasion lie research. Propaganda can be manipulated in the manufacturing content, then manipulate people or audience and change in their attitudes. Public relation is an essential tool in propaganda to persuasion people in society even though in daily life through channel like advertisement, movie, music, fashion solution and so on. Persuasion is a complicate interactive process. During the interactive process, the sender and receiver are communicated by using symbols, verbal, even though non-verbal such as body language, text and further more. Get through by using those communicate tools, “the persuader attempts to influence the persuadee to adopt a change in a given attitude or behaviour because the persuadee has had his perceptions enlarged or changed.” (O'Donnell & Kable, 1982: 9) The persuasion can be attempts to change target’s beliefs, attitudes, values and behaviours but with the target’s knowledge and agreement. Due to Simons, persuasion is human communication which was designed to influence the independent judgment and actions of targets or audiences by modifying their beliefs, values, attitudes or behaviours on doing something. (Simons, 2001: 7) Hypnotizing or ‘brainwashing’ is the common way using by persuasion to modifying their audience beliefs. Through Simons definition, people can see that he had include ‘influence’ in his definition and said that ‘influence’ can be both positive and negative. Audiences are easily influence by the film genre as action films which are normally contain the plot such as hero, inhumanity, slaughter, violence and so on. Audience will easily affect by these kinds of film then their behaviour also will be easily changing into violence after watch the film. So, we can say that audience behaviour can be influence through watch a film, while it also need to depend on the audience personality thinking. Conclusion As a conclusion, influence and persuasion will be work closely with the media world to gain the media effect to audience. People nowadays are connecting closely with three different forms of media, especially the electronic media. People will watch to the television and browsing to internet or social network for everyday. So, media will become the easiest way to influence and persuade the audience.
