Personality is essentially the culmination of the characteristics that make up an individual and that make the individual unique. Personality influences things such as a personas behavior and who that persona interacts with and how the interactions occur. After studying different personalities and reading the play 12 Angry Men I have a better understanding of myself and those around me. This brought me the realization that my close friends and I have very different personalities due to this we all have different outlooks on the world and different ways of responding to the occurrences of the outside world. Although we have these differences I have also noticed that we have a substantial amount of similarities such as our moral standards and for most of us the belief in achieving great things through hard work. All this aside, I have noticed that it is often times difficult for us to make group decisions when we want to go out and have fun. These decisions generally include where we are going, what time we will be going and what we will be doing. In a like manner, the jurors in 12 Angry Men seem to have a similar problem. However, their problem is more difficult especially considering the fact that they don’t know their individual personalities and their decision will ultimately decides whether a person lives or dies. After taking the online personality test I learned that I am an INTJ personality. Consequently, this was not a big surprise for me because I had already taken a similar test in my psychology class and ended up with the same result. I did not learn how accurate the test was the first time since I did not do further analysis on the exact meaning of my personality type. The 16 personality type’s website de... ... middle of paper ... ...meone without first knowing the person. The clashing of the different personalities of jurors proved to be a major source of the conflict in the play. Even though the jurors in the play 12 angry men with their different personalities and viewpoints had many quarrels throughout the trial, they ended coming together and agreeing to acquit the boy of his crimes. This shows that even though our individual personalities and those of others around us are different, we can still come together and actively open ourselves to the different perspectives and ideas to achieve something important. INFJ (Introvert, Intuition, Feelings, Judgment) personality style, a person with this combination of letters will provide a basis for easy determination such an individual being an introvert (I) who relies on intuition (N), feelings (F) and makes judgments (J). Such an individual is an introvert who uses intuition, feelings and has his life oriented in an orderly manner. This kind of personality type is not common, only 1% of the population have it. These kind of individuals who possess this personality combination have an inborn sense of idealism and morality despite this the can remarkably leave a mark on the world. The judging aspect is their great personality trait as it is the main reason they are set apart. They make serious steps towards reaching and realizing their goals, which makes lasing positive impact. 12 Angry Men is about 12 men who are the jury for an 18 year old accused of murder. The judge states in the opening scene that it is a premeditated murder in the 1st degree, if found guilty will automatically receive the death penalty. The 18 year old male is accused of killing his father with a “one of a kind” switch blade, in their home. The prosecutors have several eye witness testimonies, and all of the evidence that they could need to convict the 18 year old male. In the movie it takes place on the hottest day of the year in New York City. There are 12 jurors whom are to decide if the evidence is enough to convict the teen of murder in the first degree. In the first initial vote it is 11-1. The only way that the jurors could turn in their votes was if there was unanimous vote either guilty or not guilty among the 12 jurors. As the movie progressed the jurors ended up changing their minds as new evidence was brought to their attention by simple facts that were overlooked by the police and prosecutors in the initial investigation. Tempers were raised, and words flew, there was prejudice and laziness of a few of the jurors that affected the amount of time it took to go over all of the eye witness testimonies and evidence. The eye witness testimonies ended up being proven wrong and some of the evidence was thrown out because it was put there under false pretense.
Twelve angry men is a play about twelve jurors who have to decide if the defendant is guilty of murdering his father, the play consist of many themes including prejudice, intolerance, justice , and courage. The play begins with a judge explaining to the jurors their job and how in order for the boy to be sent to death the vote must be unanimous. The jurors are then locked into a small room on a hot summer day. At first, it seems as though the verdict is obvious until juror eight decides to vote not guilty. From that moment on, the characters begin to show their true colors. Some of the characters appear to be biased and prejudice while others just want justice and the truth. Twelve Angry Men Despite many of the negative qualities we see
This essay will compare and contrast the protagonist/antagonist's relationship with each other and the other jurors in the play and in the movie versions of Reginald Rose's 12 Angry Men. There aren't any changes made to the key part of the story, but yet the minor changes made in making the movie adaptation produce a different picture than what one imagines when reading the drama in the form of a play. First off, the settings in the movie are a great deal more fleshed out. In the play, the scene begins with the jurors regarding the judge's final statements concerning the case in the courtroom and then walking out into the jury room. In the movie, the audience is placed in the role of the invisible casual observer, who for perhaps the first 5 minutes of the movie, walks throughout the court building passing other court rooms, lawyers, defendants, security officers, elevators, etc.
In the play “Twelve Angry men”, the story line presents a variety of perspectives and opinions between twelve very different men. Some are more likely to be pointed out as prejudice, and others are more focused on reaching fair justice. Clearly, it is quite difficult for different people to vote ‘guilty’ or ‘not guilty’ in unity when coming to a fair decision. In all of the twelve jurors, I have chosen Juror 3 and Juror 8 for contrast and comparison. I believe that Juror number 3 is a very opinionated man, with more differences than similarities comparing with Juror number 8.
Twelve Angry Men, is a play written by Reginald Rose. The play is about the process of individuals and a court case, which is determining the fate of a teenager. It presents the themes of justice, independence and ignorance. Rose emphasises these three themes through the characters and the dialogue. Justice is the principle of moral rightness or equity. This is shown through juror number eight who isn’t sure whether or not the boy is actually innocent or guilty, but he persists to ask questions and convinces the other jurors to think about the facts first. Independence is shown through both juror number three and ten. They both believe that the defendant is guilty until they both realise that they can not relate there past experiences with the court case. Ignorance is shown throughout all the jurors during the play, it is also brought out through the setting of the play.
Guilty or not guilty? This the key question during the murder trial of a young man accused of fatally stabbing his father. The play 12 Angry Men, by Reginald Rose, introduces to the audience twelve members of a jury made up of contrasting men from various backgrounds. One of the most critical elements of the play is how the personalities and experiences of these men influence their initial majority vote of guilty. Three of the most influential members include juror #3, juror #10, and juror #11. Their past experiences and personal bias determine their thoughts and opinions on the case. Therefore, how a person feels inside is reflected in his/her thoughts, opinions, and behavior.
The four-letter type and temperament traits are measured by the Myers Briggs Personality Assessment. The assessment is a list of questions that is rated to determine your personality traits. This paper will discuss the validity of my four-letter type and temperament traits according to the Myers Briggs Personality Assessment. I will discuss each letter of my personality type and how they work together. There are different weaknesses that exist with each personality trait. We can use our personality traits to improve our overall performance on a day to day basis, as well as within our work life. The terminology used to describe each type and temperament is very broad and vague, resulting in a greater chance for people to conform and believe
These different traits of personality have an impact on each individuals’ lives and also how they behave. For instance, according to the text, “The neurotic person might be anxious a lot, but this might protect her from being a knucklehead who chases tornadoes.” (Twenge & Campbell, 2016) Each trait can have a negative effect or a positive effect. Personality can be shaped by genetics and the environment. The environment plays a big role in influencing who you are and how you may behave. Which brings us to the movie I Heart Huckabees written by David O. Russell. It talks about existentialism, which is a type of philosophical theory that articulates the existence of an individual as having free will. Free will is the idea that you go about life, choosing your course of action freely instead of living by a code or believing that God has placed you in this universe with a purpose. Free will sort of demonstrate how individuals will react differently from one another in the same situation. The movie I heart Huckabees is about a guy named Albert Markovski. Albert seeks help from two existential detectives, Bernard and Vivian Jaffe, in order to figure out why he has run into the same stranger 3
The purpose of this analysis is to identify my personality type, temperament, and how it relates to my behavior and success in the workplace. The first phase of this paper is to identify my four letter personality type using the Jung Typology Test which is based on Carl Jung’s and Isabel Briggs Myers personality type theory (Jung Typology Test, 2016). I will also discuss where I fall within Keirsey’s Temperaments; this personality typing combines two of the four sets of preferences in to four distinct temperament categories (Personalitypage, 2015a). Keirsey identified four basic temperaments known as Guardian, Rational, Artisan, and Idealist (Keirsey, n.d.). I will explain each of the four letters of my type and provide specific examples of how they relate to me in both a professional and personal level. In the final phase I will discuss my personality strengths and weaknesses and how I can use the assessment for overall personal growth.
In the day to day life, experiences and connections are made. Many things that occur in one’s life can all stem from their individual personality, but interpreting how one’s personality guides their life presents a difficult challenge. Many actions, quirks, and patterns that a person has are easily noted due to the ability to see it, but the puppeteer behind these habits is an individual’s personality. A certain personality type can affect the perception of certain events and the reactions/feelings to certain outcomes. While one person might see a situation as dreadful, another may see it entirely different. We tend to find ourselves side by side with people we see similarities between due to a parallel in certain traits, but no two individuals are exactly the same based on differences in personality. Success is hinged on many things and one of those things is the development of self-awareness. To know oneself is key to tackling on intimidating tasks and situations, but to also grow in terms of knowledge and synergy. In my attempt to
As we live our lives each day we probably do not contemplate our personality types or how our types intertwine themselves in our mannerisms and actions. I recently took a personality test from the “Jung Typology Test”. The test revealed that I am an extravert, sensing, thinking, and judging which we will refer to as an ESTJ throughout this discussion. The personality test reveals your four types of personality along with your two temperaments associated with your type. As an ESTJ, I fall into the SJ (sensing, judging) temperament. In this discussion, I will attempt to explain what I have learned about myself through the personality test as well as correlate my type with my temperament. With the information revealed in tests, I will reflect
Having completed the Myers Briggs Personality Test previously, I was identified as an INTP, which stands for introverted, intuitive, thinking, and perceiving. Accordingly, this personality is often labeled as “The Architect” or “The Logician.” Despite my previous results, I repeated the test as instructed in the assignment. Consequently, based on the outcome of the test, my personality has altered in the past year. Thus, my updated results based on this analysis were, INTJ (introverted, intuitive, thinking, and judging). However, the two personalities are not vastly different, as only one trait seems to have varied. Therefore, instead of a holding characteristic grounded in perception, it would appear that I am more inclined to mannerisms
This paper researches the typical traits of the INTJ personality type according to the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator. Additionally, I will be discussing the opposite personality of INTJ, type ESFP. I will detail two past experiences where my INTJ personality posed problems. This paper will also explore strategies that may benefit the INTJ personality type, myself included.
